September 20, 2016

"Jeffrey Willis cracks a smile as he talks with his public defender Paula Baker Mathes before appearing for his arraignment on charges of murder and kidnapping in the 2013 homicide of Jessica Heeringa at the Muskegon County Courthouse on September 20, 2016 in Muskegon, Mich."

MUSKEGON, MI – Nick Winberg sat in a chair in the front row of a meeting room, clutching a photograph of one of his daughters, Rebekah Bletsch, and a small Bible.

He was there Tuesday, Sept. 20 to witness Bletsch's alleged killer Jeffrey Willis be public identified by the Muskegon County prosecutor as the alleged murderer of another woman, Jessica Heeringa. Prosecutor DJ Hilson announced during the press conference that his office had charged Willis with murder and kidnapping in the Heeringa case.

What part did Bluhm have in Willis's crimes?

He saw her. Did nothing to help her. Did not contact the authorities. He said Willis made him help him get rid of her."

He knew the whole time and never opened his mouth. He lied. Sick individual.

My opinion only:

Kevin Bluhm is also culpable in the death of Becky Bletsch. After reading the criminal complaint against Willis and Bluhm (https://lintvwood.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/jeffrey-willis-probable-cause.pdf), I am beyond disturbed and suspicious that KB -- a corrections officer -- knew JW was both capable and guilty of murder and yet said nothing for 3 years. Had KB gone to police immediately after Jessica's torture and murder: Becky would be alive today, Jessica's family would still be grieving but would have had answers 3 years sooner, and the 16 year old girl would have been spared a lifetime of trauma. How could Bluhm possibly have been 'made' or 'forced' to help bury Jessica and coerced into silence for 3 years? Bluhm made a choice to do these things, which (if even true) started with the promise of a 'foursome.' I question that his (KB's) role was even greater than anything we know or he has stated to this point. The 'Toolbox Murderers' that JW marked/starred on his list of serial killers were a team who abducted, tortured, and murdered young women. What was the full extent of KB's involvement?

I realize KB's testimony is extremely important in charging Willis, for Jessica's murder, but I hope he is not undercharged or given some kind of a pass in exchange.

Among other details from the detective's sworn complaint:

Gun accessory parts from a Walther P22 gun were found at the gas station. A Walther P22 gun was found in Willis' van – he is alleged to have stolen the gun from a co-worker – and the accessory parts found at Heeringa's workplace do not match any other type of gun.

Police received a tip which led them to interview Willis in May 2013. Willis claimed to have been at his home from 9:30 p.m. to 12:35 a.m. the night Heeringa went missing. The detective told the judge that cell phone records indicate Willis was not at home, but near his grandfather's vacant home during that time.

Good to see updates in Jessica's and Rebekah's cases.... Sad that it took as long as it did.
Right now I'm thinking both Bluhm and Willis should hang. But I'd like for Jessica's remains to be returned to her family ; so maybe there will have to be a plea deal ? :(

Thinking about both families of Heeringa and Bletsch.
And also the 16 year old who escaped but will live with those memories of that monster.

After murder charge, question remains: Where is Jessica Heeringa?

According to court documents, Willis’ cousin, Kevin Bluhm, told investigators that he helped Willis bury Heeringa off Sheridan Road north of E. Laketon Avenue in Muskegon Township. Investigators say they’re sure her body was there at one time.

The area in question, which is about a third of a mile from Willis’ home, is the site of old train tracks that make a path through the woods. Police first searched there in June on the same day they interviewed Bluhm.

How cops say Jeffrey Willis' story for Jessica Heeringa mystery fell apart

Willis' story at that time was pretty low key.

"He made the statement, and our officers will testify to it, that he said from about 9:30 to 12:30 he was home with his wife on South Sheridan. At about 12:30 or 12:35 he left and went over to his grandfather's house, 3038 Bailey, and he was looking for wood for his dog kennel, and then decided to go to Taco Bell located on East Sternberg in Fruitport to get some food before it closed."

But, Kasher said, Willis' story wasn't in step with his cell phone records – he was in the area of 3038 Bailey at 11:23 p.m., 11:59 p.m. and 12:05 a.m., according to phone records.

May these devils burn for all eternity in hell and may the other Devils in hell do to them for all eternity what they did to these poor ladies. And even that won't be enough.:rant::rage::rage:

MUSKEGON COUNTY, MI – The man accused of two high-profile murders of Muskegon County women would be the first serial killer in the area's modern history if he's convicted of both heinous crimes.

Jeffrey Thomas Willis, 46, of Muskegon Township is lodged in the Muskegon County Jail awaiting trials for allegedly killing Jessica Heeringa in 2013 and Rebekah Bletch more than a year later in 2014.

What leads to a person being classified as a serial killer? There's not a cut-and-dry answer to that question based on MLive's research. However, after researching FBI papers and talking with the FBI's Grand Rapids field office and Muskegon County Sheriff's Office, it appears Willis would fit the official description if the allegations leveled by authorities against him are true.
