A preliminary hearing for Willis is scheduled for next week. Prosecutors are waiting for a judge to decide if the court hearing will be open to the public. Willis' attorney is requesting it be closed.

Earlier this year, Bluhm pled guilty to lying to police investigating the disappearance of Jessica Heeringa. He was sentenced to time served, but because of the accessory charge he remains in the Muskegon County Jail.

MUSKEGON, MI - Kevin LaVern Bluhm is charged with being an after-the-fact accomplice to the murder of Jessica Heeringa, but his preliminary exam in district court will wait until after that of Jeffery Thomas Willis.

[...]

Bluhm's preliminary exam in Muskegon County's 60th District Court, had been scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 29 but adjourned at the agreement of both prosecution and defense lawyers, said Muskegon County's Chief Assistant Prosecutor Timothy G. Maat. He said the agreement had been made at a routine meeting between the lawyers, a probable cause hearing the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

I am coming late to this case. Explain why he's a suspected serial offender? I am seeing 1 murder here? (Crime of Passion, Pre Mediated? etc) there are all types of murdering scum bags in this world. However, I don't think we can classify him as a serial offender if he does not have other cases with similar MO's linked to him and the crime he's been convicted/about to be convicted of.

Have I missed other cases being brought into question?

Thanks
Mracc

Not to mention his "rape van." Equipped with syringes with liquid in them, chains, rope, handcuffs, ball gag, gun and more etc... I live in the city where this supposedly happened. I'm glad the sick SOB of off the street.

The evidentiary hearing Friday centered on allegations made by defense attorney Brian Hosticka. He believes Willis' Constitutional rights were violated by deputies at the jail. The allegations could impact the state's case against Willis, and relates to papers written by Willis while he was in jail that wound up in the hands of jail staff. "Notes that are created in preparation for trial, to help prepare for trial, to help explain things," said Hosticka.

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — In a bold move by the defense of the man accused of two murders in Muskegon County, Jeffery Willis took the stand Friday.

As family members of the victim looked on, Willis took the stand for the first time in open hearing hoping that he can convince a judge that his case has been so damaged at least one of three capital crimes of which he is accused should be thrown out.

"You can't unring the bell once my client's notes have been read," said Brian Hosticka, Willis' defense attorney. "They are notes for me basically revealing our case and the prosecution and the state knows what we've been talking about and what our position is on various issues in the case. I'm asking for the judge to rule that there's been a breach of attorney-client privilege and that it was deliberate and that as a result of that breach there's been a violation of the sixth amendment right to council of the U.S. Constitution."
