WARNING: GRAPHIC POST-MORTEM PHOTO IN LINK!!

Identiteit overleden man gezocht (aanrijding metro Amsterdam)

On Friday evening 5 February 2021, a collision between a metro and a man took place on the metro track between Van der Madeweg station and Venserpolder station. The victim died as a result. The investigation into his death shows that it is presumably suicide or a fatal accident. There are no indications of a crime. Unfortunately, despite many efforts, the criminal investigation department has not yet been able to find out the identity of the victim and is therefore now asking for the help of the citizen.

The detectives hope to get in touch with people who may know who this could be. The victim's description:
- Male;
- About 40-60 years old;
- About 1.80 meters long (wide margin);
- Brown eyes;
- Black straight hair with gray temples and bald on the back of the head;
- No tattoos.

Photos of the victim's face are available, see the bottom of the press release.

He wore:
- Shirt brand "Hunter" white, red and blue;
- White hoodie brand "Kultivate" with busy print in the colors black, blue and bright green;
- Striped fleece socks;
- Dark blue jeans brand "Blue Blood";
- Dark mountain boots brand "Caterpillar" size 43.

Photos of the victim's clothes and shoes are available, see the bottom of the press release.

Leg operation
Investigations showed that the victim had two screws in his fibula just above the ankle. The victim has therefore probably had an operation on his leg before.

He's definitely not 40 years old, I bet he's closer to being 60, maybe even older than that. Covering up the lower part of his face isn't very helpful, but I'm guessing he suffered some trauma to that part of his body and that's why it had to be covered?

The clothes are like something a 20 year old would wear, but he looks late 50s to early 60s.
I wonder if he was homeless/transient and got his clothes from charity shops or donations etc? The clothes just don't seem to suit a man of that age really....

probably, i agree it's dumb. they could've blurred it or something. and yeah, 40 didn't seem very accurate to me either.

sharp! i agree, the shirt looks like something a cyclist could wear, but the jeans and sweater look like they came straight from the zeroes. i'm getting strong hiphop scene vibes 0-0

Traveled that track for many years....I feel blessed I never saw a "jumper". @Rootje. Great you made a thread for this poor man.

Het NIC..... t-shirt, location Amsterdam...Hogehilweg 3, Amsterdam South-East You need to take the Metro on station Bullewijk to Amsterdam Center, coming along Van de Madeweg. Also on the Hogehilweg A&O Hostel, with cheap rooms.

i cant open the link o_O

The clothing is really random. Looks like handed down or thrifted. Someone who obviously did not care too much about what he wore.
He was likely not homeless, but somehow he reminds me of a worker or handyman of some sort living in very modest conditions, maybe he was an Eastern European work traveler.

Someone who could have stayed at the Hogehilweg A&O Hostel, with cheap rooms. A few numbers from where Het NIC has an office....They seem to me the kind of organisation who would give clothes away for charity reasons.

Some possibilities, missing men from Belgium, a neighbouring country of the Netherlands.

Willem Moens

It mentions him wearing old clothes, might have gotten a clean set from a charity?
Time doesn’t add up, hight is about right, but unfortunately no recent picture.

Jacques Forton

Height & time don’t match, but he has a few similarities in his face.

Bumping case up. "John Doe" is still listed on LE's website. That makes me think he was probably not a "tourist" or a local who has family, or they would probably have contacted LE by now. JMO. I hope he will be identified this year.

WARNING: Post-mortem photo at link.

Link DBM because photo is showing. Link is in original post.

IMO his clothing is very odd for his age. It seems more hip than what someone his age would wear. The shirt is from a Dutch company, maybe he got it from a charity shop. It certainly doesn't look like something a regular person would wear, he might've been homeless.

The last one does have some similarities indeed. The height on our Doe is just an indication, it might well be 1.70m. The dates are the only thing that don't match, that's a big gap.

i know there are a lot of people who live 'on' the street in Amsterdam or in hostels. His clothes does give me that vibe a little bit. I'm wondering if he had maybe a backpack or a bag somewhere nearby the trainstation where he had personal stuff in it.

i'm also wondering, usually when people get screws in their body or other metal parts, aren't there any numbers on there that are in a system somewhere?

maybe the police can try to identify where he originate from? i know they can do studies to try to find a specific mineral in bones to try to locate which country he might come from.

I had screws & a plate a couple of years ago, in Belgium (neighbouring country of the Netherlands) and just checked my files for you and they don’t mention a serial number.
It does mention the sort of material, so they could do a check when, for instance, they can’t check dna & fingerprints and think they might have a match. But they wouldn’t be certain.

I had a porth-a-cath once and that does mention a serial number in my files. I even had an ‘ID’ in my wallet for it.
So it might be different for every ‘item’ they put in your body.
