Right now I just need help finding out who that Manayunk Pennsylvania couple and their son was that was put in that orphanage and what orphanage he was put into and look into it.

Hopefully they can check other boys that were leads(especially the early leads) with DNA also.

Just an article from the 80's with Remington. He talks about a lead that he felt was promising, but then they find the boy alive. So maybe this is the lead you were referring to.

It's not the Manayunk Pennsylvania boy.He was ruled out early and I hope please check again with DNA now. I wonder what lead that was and if they actually saw that boy too or just took someone's word that boy in the lead he followed was alive and ok now.I really hope and pray they take all the boys that were leads and check them with DNA now.I do think the boy in the box was a boy and lead that was already checked and the boy was ruled out some how.Possibly an early lead.

I wonder what lead that was? The only lead I can find so far is this lead they were looking into in February 1982. It made me think of the William "Billy" McGee lead. Maybe they need to look into that again. Where is that boy he was looking into and William "Billy" McGee now?

Quote from newspaper article

And that same team also was working a new lead in the still active case of the Boy in the Box. Homicide Capt. Jerrold Kane said police had gotten a call Tuesday night from someone with new information on the case. The info turned out to be correct, police said this afternoon, but it concerned a different child - not the Boy in the Box, but someone else who was sent to live in a foster home in Bucks County some 25 yrs ago and is still alive.

I don't know, Remington was pretty good at what he did, so if he seemed satisfied that the lead was a dead end it probably was.

Im good with his findings also. I believe they wanted to find this boys family as bad as anyone.
If there was a chance they would have done all they could match him.

IT was not that boy..

I believe that it is possible that the way he was dumped he was not even from around here. That road is kind of a thoroughfare, And back then it looks pretty open, Now it takes you from one point in the city right out to the burbs..

He could have just been dumped along on the trip through town.

It was probably looked into pretty good. All I'm saying is to go back to the beginning and look at everything again and please do DNA testing this time with the boys that were possible leads to be our boy and were ruled out. I hope and pray some one new can re investigate his case again and care enough about him to re investigate his case again and look into to every thing again.

I don't think he was from the area either, but I do have a feeling that the person that did this might have been. People used this area to dump their garbage, so I'm thinking it's someone who had some local knowledge.

I don't think he was from the Fox Chase area. I know and talked to people who lived in the area then and now and they said NO ONE recognized this little boy. They all felt he was not from the area. I think he was from around not far from where the bassinet box was bought. Maybe even Delaware County. But I really just don't know any more. I did my whole investigation around where this box came from at first. But he really could have came from any where and the bassinet box might not have been from where he was actually from at all.I do feel very strongly he was from a Orphanage, foster home, children's home, DHS Child Welfare or a institution some where. Possibly just getting into a place or going from foster care to orphanage.I just don't know where or what county he was from.

That road even now is a way from one town to the next. I have driven it many times. It will take you right out of the northeast.

I don't know that it would have to be someone with local knowledge. Maybe I can take a drive one day and video it.. show you what I mean.

Yes. I went by it a few times. Driving and walking. It looks nothing like it did at all any more. It looks very different now. A video would still be very good though. The pole is still there near where he was found.

I have to say, and I hope this does not offend anyone, that it is my opinion that this boy was mentally challenged and the parent or parents where ashamed of him, or they were tired of taking care of him. Maybe I feel this way because of the female that called the police station to inquire if they found out the boys name yet. Then she got a little nasty and and asked if the police officer if he knew what it was like to take care of a retarded child.

In today's society we call this mentally challenged, but from what I am finding that is not the term they used in the 50's. Below is an article that reflects that's woman's terminology and also talks about the stigma associated with the term retarded. The article is from 1962 and it talks about the fact that the president had a sister with this condition. It's possible after this fact was known, society no longer looked at this condition with embarrassment, but instead showing sympathy.

I do agree with you though that we have to go back to the beginning of this, thinking in terms of the 50's and our society as to how it was then.

Yes and I hope re investigate this whole case again from the beginning. Some one who will have more time and really look into this poor little boys case. The answers of who this little boy is and his real name is out there somewhere.

I wonder what happened to this boy (from 1956) also his parents.
The boy was wearing orthopedic shoes when found.

I can't see anything in the article. There was a boy found in 1956 New Mexico gas station.I looked into him in another group about a year and a half ago, His name was Jimmy Trout. He did not fit our boy.He was bigger, teeth were extracted from him and he had a broken nose. His parents were arrested for abandoning him.Good they were jerks.

I was just checking him out to see if maybe he had any siblings, he did but it was a female and the parents, after dropping this boy off in Mexico, took the girl with them. It just goes to show you the lengths some people will go to get rid of a child. These people actually planned to drop the boy off in California. So I was thinking our boy could be from anywhere in the United States. I am glad the parents where caught and the boy was reunited with his grandmother in the end.
