This reminds me of a time when we lived back in the country, and everyone let there dogs just run loose. There was this Weimaraner that kept giving us a hard time every time we ran by their house. I was running alone one day, when the dog ran out and sank his teeth into my groin, I stopped and was very gentle with him and he backed off, but it still scared the hell out of me. And thankfully it wasn't deep, though it did leave tooth marks and still scared me. So, we talked to the owner who seemed like a nice enough person, though he just talked about how the dog had been abused before, as though that was some sort of excuse. I'm not sure what they thought that was going to accomplish, like that was going to stop him from attacking people? Anyway, they just let it go on.
So, the next time I ran, I made sure my husband was with me, I was scared to go alone at this point. The dog came after us again, but this time, we went prepared with a can of mace. My DH sprayed the dog in the face and he ran off and left us alone. I guess the owners finally got the message as after that we never saw the dog again. But it still makes me mad when I think about it, all they had to do was keep the dog from running loose. There was no excuse for this dog to have to be maced.
Then there these two huge boxers that would chase me, their owners just let them run loose at random I guess. Once they literally came out and one had his jaws literally locked onto my ankles. I finally shook him off a little, but they were still biting at me and wouldn't let me by. There was a big sign fallen down by the road that I picked up and swung it around to get them off of me, no I didn't hit them with it. I wouldn't have done that unless it was absolutely necessary. Still, if not for that fallen down road sign, I don't know what would have happened.
It's just so sad, my husband and I are both dog lovers, and animal lovers in general. I mean, I can't even watch a movie about dogs or even wildlife that doesn't make me cry, I totally love and want them protected. I don't even like to see bears or mountain lions killed. I don't even believe in hunting unless it's absolutely necessary for survival.
But on the other hand, I'm not going to be bullied by anyone or anything, or put up with an endangerment to my or anyone else's life or well being. If there's anything we should be allowed to do, it's to protect ourselves and others. It's just a shame that people won't take responsibility for their animals.
Anyway, we since moved away from there, we just had enough of it. We now live in a community that doesn't allow dogs to roam free. When outdoors, they are either leashed or in fenced areas. But for those areas where there are not those constraints, there are apparently no easy answers. I hope you do whatever necessary to protect your little dogs from the big bullies, Bendpages. :hug:
Btw, I had never heard of L7 at all, much less their ****list song, lol. But since you ask, thinking about it, when I'm feeling a little, or a lot, riled up, I really like hearing something with a lot of energy. It seems to help me release a little steam, lol.
