Feds: Bombing suspect made damaging statement

Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev made a "statement to his detriment" during a prison visit by his sister, federal prosecutors said in a court document.

The statement was made in the presence of an FBI agent, who was in the room during the visit under special restrictions, according to documents filed in federal court in Boston on Friday.

I just saw this... not sure what to think, but here it is.

Umarova left Boston with her family in July with a round-trip ticket to visit relatives in their native Chechnya, but she failed to return to Massachusetts with her parents at the end of August. Her family told federal authorities and ABC News she stayed behind to get married after she met a man there during Ramadan.

Her younger brothers, Adam, 20, and Junes, 18, were already under suspicion by some investigators because of their online support for the Tsarnaev brothers and social media postings that included tweets with Dzhokhar a day before the blasts. A photo of Junes Umarov and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev lighting fireworks appeared on one social networking site in January 2013, an ABC News investigation found.

"No one is calling Heda a terrorist but her travel has certainly garnered some attention. People are concerned that a 23-year-old is in Chechnya, a country that she fled from... and now she is deciding to stay on her own," a ranking law enforcement source involved in the Boston Marathon investigation told ABC News. The source said that her decision to stay in Chechnya also raised eyebrows because, at least until she is married, she didn't seem to have any "obvious means" of support.

"We were already concerned about the social media exchanged with her brothers, who remain on the radar, especially the younger brother Junes, who was Dzhokhar's best friend," the source added.

And now, sources said, the FBI has been monitoring Heda Umarova's apparent Internet posts recently, which include depictions of Chechen jihadis brandishing weapons and a photo-shopped image of a U.S. passport in a carry-on bag bearing the black flag of jihad.

It's a fairly long article

I saw a version of the Heda story yesterday at The Daily Mail.

Its located here:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...larming-pictures-female-jihadists-online.html

I have followed this case fairly closely from the very beginning and don't recall hearing even once about Heda or her family. Just one of the reasons I find this article fascinating.

It almost seems that the Feds are trying to manufacture a case to prove Dhozkar is a terrorist to justify their desire to kill him. It mentions in the article that the photo of the 'jihadists' that Heda posted is at least ten years old, despite the desire of the Feds to have the public believe she and her entire family are jihadists who are plotting against America.

Another version of the story here:

Does the FBI "manufacture" cases often?
I think his ACTIONS proved he is a terrorist when he put that bomb at the feet of children. Talk about terror. I have a strong "desire" to see him killed myself.

A photo of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev should be pictured as an example.
He is a terrorist. NO DOUBT.

From the note he wrote in the boat:
“the US government is killing our innocent civilans. ... We Muslims are one body; you hurt one, you hurt us all.”

Oh, thanks very much, I DO UNDERSTAND the FBI's definition of terrorism.

I don't doubt that he and his brother set off the bombs that killed and injured people. I want him to get a fair trial. And, most of my life I have been mostly opposed to the death penalty. I do not think, in this case, that it warrants the death penalty. That's my opinion, if you all have an opposing opinion, that's fine.

I didn't hear about her either until recently. Not sure if it is warranted to be examining her and her brother closely or not, but time will tell. I don't think they are manufacturing something against her just following all leads. I think the picture posting is overdone in the headline too... media, cripe. Anyway, anxious for all this and the Todashev/Waltham stuff to have more light shed on it.... difficult for me to make any opinions about what our government is or isn't doing till then.

It is my opinion that it takes a special kind of evil to place bomb stuffed backpacks at the feet of innocent children. In my opinion, if this cowardly act of violence against the most innocent does not warrant the death penalty, I don't know what does.

I truly hope he is convicted and sentenced to death.

The widow of Boston Marathon bombings suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev was asked by a federal grand jury to hand over any items belonging to one of the victims in a 2011 triple slaying in Waltham, her attorney said yesterday.

But Amato DeLuca said his client Katherine Russell doesn’t have anything that belonged to Brendan Mess, a friend of Tsarnaev’s and one of the three people killed.

Talk about odd twists...

http://bostonherald.com/news_opinio...s_seek_records_related_to_waltham_triple_slay

The Boston Marathon bombing suspect’s defense team are seeking reports and interviews related to his dead brother’s involvement in a 2011 Waltham triple-murder, lawyers said today.

“The fact is — and it is a fact — Tamerlan Tsarnaev slit the throats of three helpless people,” renowned death-row attorney David I. Bruck, making his first court appearance today for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s legal team, told U.S. District Court Judge George A. O’Toole Jr. “Whether the defendant ever learned of it or not is clearly an important part of the story in terms of who was the leading active participant later.”

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s lawyers are seeking records of what suspected Waltham triple-slay co-conspirator Ibragim Todashev told investigators before an FBI agent shot and killed Todashev during an interview about the murders last May. Todashev was a friend of Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s.
Assistant U.S. Attorney William Weinreb said the government has no intention of turning over the records because “The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office is continuing to actively investigate the Waltham triple homicide.”

“There’s nothing in those statements” indicating Dzhokhar Tsarnaev knew anything about the Waltham murders, Weinreb said.
