I came here this morning intending to say that Jay looked like a lovely lad, but possibly a tad immature and naive, which may have made him a bit vulnerable, and got him into trouble. Well! The latest revelations about his past have, let's say, slightly altered that opinion. Quite frankly, I now don't know what to think, or what/who to believe. Now it appears that anything is possible (a phrase from an old song keeps running through my mind - "things are seldom what they seem").

Thread is closed.

Lot of stuff being posted and discussed here about screenshots and videos for which nobody has posted a link.

Use report to send me a link to an APPROVED source of all these screenshots & videos that you all are discussing.

If I've somehow missed the links, send me the link to the post in which they appear.
Sorry, I posted before seeing this.

He's a cute kid and we feel sorry for him being lost. We humans also tend to judge books by their covers - even when we know better. He can be both a cute kid who is lost or in some kind of trouble and a violent person we would want locked up.

This is as relevant as the positive stuff in someone's background would be. If a person with eagle scout experience went missing in the woods-- you might could use that knowledge to decide where to look, what to look for.

If you know someone has a criminal record, you could use that knowledge to look for clues of a crime that might have ultimately led to a person's disappearance.

knowing everything you can, helps you make connections between things that may not seem relevant otherwise. One piece of knowledge shouldn't be driving the whole investigation, especially if no connections alluding to a crime being committed have been made. Let's hope authorities are using everything they know to find Jay. MOO

He had been partying for 3 days, possibly had an hour or 2 sleep before he set off on his journey. Once the drugs n booze where off in a couple of hours, unless he has drugs or alcohol to recharge. He is going to be going thru alcohol withdrawal and whatever else. His body will be in a very fragile state. He is going to desperately need sleep and fluids. He could of found a cool place, probably hidden by large rocks n scrub, and just expired in the heat. One of many possibilities. ...moo

Hey Everyone,
This thread is closing for tonight. We will open the thread in the morning.
Due to the amount of alerts that came in overnights on Jay's discussion we are closing the thread overnight. We will revisit leaving it open 24 hours in the future.

Some new activity today & words from the mayor of Santigo del Tiede.

Specially trained dogs are arriving in Tenerife as the search for missing British teenager Jay Slater enters its ninth day.

The mayor of Santiago de Tiede, where Mr Slater’s father has been putting up posters appealing for information about his son's disappearance, has expressed his sympathy for the family.

Emilio Navarro said: "As a father, I understand. All our resources and means are being used to find him."

Another MOD NOTE:
From Rules - Etiquette & Information

"VICTIM FRIENDLY

Websleuths is a victim friendly forum. Attacking or bashing a victim is not allowed. Discussing known victim behavior, good or bad is fine, but do so in a civil and constructive way, and only when such behavior is known to be relevant to the case."

The previous case can be discussed as it might relate to this case. Discussion of the legal system, judge, sentence etc. for the previous case is off topic. MOVE ON.

When he told Lucy he needed a drink it didn’t necessarily mean he was dehydrated and needed water, it could have meant too that he wanted more alcohol, he had been drinking all night, and very possibly more at the airbnb

At 8am I would not imagine it is that hot up in the mountains

A Spanish force spokesman told reporters: “The Civil Guard is continuing with the search operation for the young British man who went missing near the Masca area of the municipality of Buenavista del Norte in which different units are participating. In addition today several dog trainers and their expert dogs who have transferred from Madrid have joined the search. These dogs are specifically trained in searching for people over large swathes of land.”

They said: “Yes, of course it (conspiracy theories) is being investigated. From the beginning they have been considering all possibilities.”

Yesterday, Jay's family released a grainy CCTV image suggesting he might have been spotted in Tenerife's Santiago del Teide hours after he was said to have gone missing.

The Guardia Civil has not confirmed the sighting but told The Telegraph that “nothing has been ruled out”.

It comes as five unrelated Brits have made the journey to the Spanish island in search of Slater, whilst making online content about it.

TikTokker Paul Arnott, 29, paid £400 for a flight from Fort William in Scotland to Tenerife on Saturday

One of them, TikTokker Paul Arnott, 29, paid £400 for a flight from Fort William in Scotland to Tenerife on Saturday, June 22.

“A lot of people play on the fact it’s people with social media profiles coming out here to search, we’re only here because we care about Jay,” Arnott said.

He added: "The difference is that specialisation in large expanses of land. The dogs that were already taking place in the operation were trained for searches in smaller areas."

Anyone can get lost and go missing but are you more likely to get lost and go missing if you keep bad company?

You are definitely more likely to get lost and go missing if you get separated from your mates. Especially at night, drunk, in a strange place…

We’ve seen this on here countless times but it’s usually water instead of mountains.

Not bashing you for posting whatsoever! But Paul Arnott (@downtherapids on tiktok) couldn’t care less about Jay IMO… I watched him last night for a while, he ignores all questions in the comments and has no interest in what the public is asking of him; he’s been walking around key areas in Tenerife with his eyes wide open and looking frightened on purpose, asking for gifts (which have a monetary value) to continue “searching.” Never said where the money was going, though. It seemed to me every time he went into a building or scary area, he’d pause the live on purpose to cut the feed and make everyone panic. All my opinion, by I think it’s all for views and he is totally exploiting this. He must’ve made hundreds if not thousands of pounds through the amount of gifts he’s getting.
