This is kinda in my wheelhouse, and I've spent some time looking for those kinds of things on public searches. Basically, the only hit is in Henderson/Las Vegas for one or two minor tickets while he was living there. Everything else is blank, that I can find.
Now, every state's system is...
Yes, I personally agree that some sort of theft might have occurred. A little embellishment would make sense, but for him to generate a "top 20" type list, without serial numbers, takes it out of the realm of smart and into the area of too-smart-by-half.
If he was a serious, legitimate gun...
:)
Upon reflection, the Trac phone thing is something that actually makes me think the guy had a clue about what he was doing.
There was another report that said he did not have a "smart phone" so I suppose he could've had one of their flip phones. That still leaves unanswered the question of...

Without meaning to argue, that's a part of her story I find credible. Fights are dynamic events. It is hard to predict where it will end up. For whatever reason, he chose to fight her instead of just shooting her. (Thank God.)
When she fought back, she made him react to her, so he couldn't...

This link has more of the actual video from the Benbrook stop. In it, it sounds like NMF had one auto insurance policy that expired in May, but was able to...
I'm right there with you. He might also have been a wannabe.
My only carve-out is the Henderson/LV cases. Those are the right time frame and confirmed presence in the area. Particularly when paired with the information from the other guards that he would spend time out in the desert.
Also, more information here:

A unique bike? I am totally out of that world, but how can a bike be THAT unique? Was it one of those...
Are you sure you guys are looking at the right vehicle?
I basically agree. This guy seems more Verbal Kint than Keyser Soze.
There's one permutation that is still possible with regard to the reported theft. He might've actually had the "good" stuff stolen from his trailer, and then...
As a gun guy, where would you rate the Ruger? It is a name I recognize, but that's not necessarily saying much.
I get a sense that this guy was very budget conscious. That is, poor. His accessories seem... utilitarian, but on the cheap side. Certainly not what I would expect from a criminal...
With some help from a blade forum, have a lock on the double headed hatchet. It is a Cold Steel Bad Ax:
http://zprepared.com/zblog/bad-axe-cold-steel-throwing-axe/
It is discontinued, but available still from some retailers and second hand.
BTW, it also seems pretty cheap. As I understand...
I believe we can determine what kind of machete he had. It is a "latin machete" style, although I can't tell what brand.
Check out this forum thread:

Specifically, this pic appears to have the same survival scabbard and distinctive...
Interesting.
IMHO, though, it is one thing to go "off the grid" in a forested area or on a remote farm in Montana. It is a totally different thing to try to do it while driving cross country. He had to have a money source.
Naturally, if he's stealing from his victims, that's one source...
Great writeup, HeatherS. (And good find, 1doctor.)
Here's a link with very little to add to the overall commentary:

But, it has this graphic that I had not seen before.
For me, frankly, it is more...
Another thought about the Benbrook stop: how recent was the Oregon license? The officer didn't say it was expired, but NMF said it wasn't his address anymore.
Do we know what address that was? His mom's?
Along similar lines, I wonder how far in advance the lucky Miss Heather made the...
I do not believe that is correct. I have not heard verification of where that pic is from, with his dog. If LE took it, they would not be looking for the dog. If that was not his dog, I wonder why LE wouldn't shoo it away.

Yes, reports say it was the same vehicle. I can also confirm that officers are trained to look in vehicles for suspicious items.
However, having worked landscaping for several years in my youth, there is also nothing inherently suspicious about those items.
The officer likely picked up on...
I wonder how true this is.

NMF was stopped in Benbrook, TX, on July 7, I believe. Plus, his MO appears to focus on women who advertise services online.
In terms of central location, St. Louis looks promising to me. But, if he followed security work across the country, he may have simply had an itinerant lifestyle...
