Ah, yes, I should have rephrased that to "physically shown." And I guess shoes would have been the... best for positive ID and all. Maybe I actually just kind of hoped they were lying there nearby, less association and all. This whole thing just so hits 'reality buttons,' what can I say?

Well, some of us are STILL hoping you missed SOME of it... the "female" parts. :D ANYway....

I watched it, too, and despite the expressed wishes of Heather and Drew not to know how the girls died, it still struck me as a bit... strange. I do respect the family's wishes and all, but I also kind of got the drift that LE wouldn't have told them much anyway. Is it just me, or did anyone...

ITA, and I'm sure LE has. As well as knocked on doors, etc. As to the 'simple' part, I do agree with you again there! In fact, it's been a constant, growing worry on my part that this crime is anything but simple and straightforward. I do trust LE, however, also wants to make it STICK, so the...

As far as I read them all to basically be, all of the above was pure general speculation, indirectly related to THIS case, and more like "I wonder how someone might see a person at a distance...", "What are the chances of someone reporting something like gunshots in an area...", "What kinds of...

Well, um, let's see, from July 13th to December 5th is 145 days. Somewhere around 3,450-ish hours. That's a lot of video storage for ANY surveillance system. :(

I think, originally, it was merely to do with how such might help determine COD in this case and if after such a long time, it would even be there at all, but also just curiosity over how such things... work overall. :)

Well... I tend to think twice about the DP being a deterrent. It could be, tho... http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/facts-about-deterrence-and-death-penalty I have found it rather interesting for a long time just why some areas do have low crime rates, and others seem to magnets. Stereotypes...

If it's rained since then, highly doubtful. Large amounts, say, underneath remains, possible, unless there is also a high level of decomp. They most likely took appropriate soil samples to be processed in the lab, if such a manner of death resulting in blood loss was indicated. I did read...

An article called "Dangerous Minds," written by one Malcolm Gladwell (who also wrote Tipping Point and Blink, both of which I have read), by chance?

I in no way insinuated any "special weapon" in my post, merely that ammunition of a specific type would considerably lessen/alter the sounds of a gunshot. That's even assuming a gun was used at all in the commission of this crime. I, personally, doubt that, but we do not know the COD. I was...

Um, actually, no. Using a (highly deadly) .22, and sub-sonic ammo, at point blank range up against a body, what noise would occur would NOT sound like a gunshot. In such a remote area, even someone potentially in the area would not associate the noise with a gunshot. Someone familiar with guns...

A lot may also depend on whether we have a repeat offender here or not. This crime seems to have been pretty bold, not only abducting two young girls, but in broad daylight. It tends to at least seem this perp had things well planned, and not a first time attempt. Then again, it was roughly...

Well, IMO, these are first off generalizations, stats gathered from other cases, and therefore not facts in this particular case. As to the distance of 20+ miles where the bodies were, Iowa there is pretty rural and widespread, which is also much rarer than more urban settings that most of...
