CANADA- Kelsey Ouellette, shot in vehicle November 5, 2022

New information has been revealed. Her murder was apparently targeted, and connected to her boyfriend (a known drug dealer) who died a few months before she was killed: https://globalnews.ca/news/10079549/kelsey-ouellette-homicide-update-november-2023/

Identified! Mystery couple murdered in South Carolina, 1976 - Pamela Buckley & James Freund #9

Identity theft was a big thing in the 1970s, but they typically took the identity of someone who was already deceased, and usually it was the identity of a young child (less likely to have had a social security number, passport, etc).

It appears from the Newspaper clippings that the Sumter Speedway hosted multiple events in August 1976 - including one on Saturday, August 7.

Well, there was the “paper chase” method, which sprung up as a way to avoid the Vietnam war draft. Also infamously used by Kimberly McLean AKA Lori Ruff to conceal her identity. Basically, they would find someone born around the same time who died very young, and then request that child’s birth...

More Sunlending stuff found on newspapers.com... I found a different picture of them, from a newspaper ad in Minneapolis, October 1971. I also found shows for the following locations: Taos, NM Greeley, CO Sioux Falls, SD Looks like they had a bit of a residency in Taos, NM at The Country Club Inn.

Here's an article from the July 1, 1972 issue of Billboard about Project IV and Keith Christianson using videotapes to audition artists for college bookings. It's possible that Sunlending recorded one of these videos.

Looks like "Projects IV" mentioned in the book is the name of the management company. Here's an article on Michael Johnson that briefly mentions Projects IV and Keith Christianson: Michael Johnson: Little Bit So it appears Mr. Christianson was developing artists in the Minneapolis area in hopes...

Personal Management perhaps? I think I found Mr. Christianson - looks like he was also from Minnesota, and passed away in 2004. Here's his obituary: Obituary for Keith R. Christianson

I would also be curious if he has any material he could share from Pamela’s tenure in Sunlending. It doesn’t appear they released any commercial recordings, but he may have demos, live recordings, performance footage (8mm), etc.

In regards to Sunlending: one member Anthony Matthews passed away in a hang gliding accident in August 1975. At some point, Mary MacGregor (of “Torn Between Two Lovers” fame) became the lead singer. It doesn’t seem like Pamela was involved with the group after she got married in 1972. It seems...

To me, Jane Doe looks like she is of Eastern or Southern European background. Combined with the Italian clothing, I would scour the missing persons lists for Italy and its surrounding countries. Erzebeth Szita, the missing lady from Montreal, is the closest physical resemblance I’ve seen yet...

Identified! Mystery couple murdered in South Carolina, 1976 - Pamela Buckley & James P Freund #8

Verna Moore was a real champion for this couple. She never forgot about them, and pushed for them to get exhumed back in 2007 to try and extract DNA from them for identification. It’s a shame she didn’t get to see them identified.

Pam wasn’t a member of We Five. She was in a band called “Sunlending” who were an opening act for We Five in 1971.

Found Deceased CO - Pamela Mae Buckley, 23, Colorado Springs, Dec 1975

The Namus report only mentioned that she was missing from Colorado Springs. But she was born, raised, and spent most of her life in Minnesota. So I am not sure if that was included in the original report; it wasn’t reported in Namus, anyhow.

They were apparently hitch hiking. Hopefully we will get more details on that. Pamela used to be a travelling musician; I wonder if she went on the road in an attempt to restart her music career.

Found Deceased CO - Pamela Mae Buckley, 23, Colorado Springs, Dec 1975

Unfortunately, a lot of old missing persons reports are not entered online. Some states are in the process of doing so, which is probably how Pamela ended up in Namus. It’s too bad they didn’t (or couldn’t) specify that she was originally from Minnesota, as she would have been identified sooner.
