I don't know why people think it's suspicious he didn't act rationally, such as taking his wallet, phone, and backpack. And didn't appear to go towards lighted houses.
The combination of a head injury and likely a huge adrenalin rush from the accident can be two factors for NOT acting...
Every time someone is missing, tips come in from people who think they've seen him/her (and most always turn out to be mistaken). That's my assumption of the type of tips they are following up on.
I think if they'd sold or traded the child they would not have reported him missing. It would be easier to say he was somewhere else, like with a relative out of town. It would have prevented (or greatly delayed) any law enforcement investigations.
But if you look at where the damage was, you can see how he'd be hurt. It looks like the car spun around, maybe after a first impact on the front. Then it appears by the way the rear side is damage and the trunk lid almost tore off, that the next impact was on the driver's rear of the car...
No, not to me. It looks like his car spun and the hit was on the side and the investigators obviously saw evidence that impact was with a tree, not another car. Were he hit in the rear by another car, the trunk lid would be crumpled inward and forward. Instead the trunk lid is almost ripped off...
I grew up on gravel roads. I learned to drive on them. They are very unforgiving of someone going too fast, waiting too long to turn, or making a last minute brake or steering action. Even if he was somewhat familiar with the road (though it really appears he was off course), gravel road...
I think this was planned. So many possibilities on the motive.
But a couple of things strike me.
I think the shooter would have shot them at the boat ramp had they not took up his request for a lift. It would have been a more public crime scene because the shooting would have been in the open...
In areas with no houses or street lights, the moon can provide a surprising amount of light once you are used to being outside for a minute or so. I live in a community that restricts outdoor lighting and I'm surprised how much moonlight there is some nights when I walk the dogs.
But this...
Here's an interesting way you might be able to lock a key inside a car with a fob. I know it works like this on a Prius, as I was the person tasked to bring the spare fob. Leave the fob in the car. Hit the lock button. Shut the door so the first last catches but the second does not (the door...
Many years ago I was involved in a serious bicycle crash and suffered a concussion. I blacked out and don't remember anything. I would not have known to pick up a phone or a backpack if I'd had one. I was just wondering around the area which happened to be close enough to a house someone saw me...
Today's anti-theft technology on new vehicle smakes it harder to steal a sitting car (but certainly not impossible).
That's why carjacking has surged. (Consider this opinion as I read it a few years ago and can't track down the source, sorry).
I don't see any evidence his car was rear ended by another car (plus the report states single car accident). I think his car spun after the first collision and the damage to the rear appears from a side impact like another tree, not a rear impact.
I don't see any conspiracy - just an accident...
The county where the officer worked (Roane) and the county from which Henry disappears (lancing in Morgan county) to have disappeared are different counties.
And the locations are not close enough together to assume someone would ride this type of vehicle that far.
So is the assumption of the investigation that he left voluntarily, was gone a few days, and then murdered when he returned home?
Or do they not believe the later sightings?
There were 450k of this type vehicles (from several manufacturers) sold in the US in 2018 alone.
It's way too early to assume this stolen vehicle is Kevin's.
