    Trial Discussion Thread #57 - 14.16.10, Day 46 ~ sentencing~

Exactly. This whole prison thing sounds awful and inhumane. I guess we better let everyone out, not just Oscar. If the judge buys this crap I think I may have an aneurysm.

Discussion between the verdict and sentencing

"Oscar prayed to God to save the deceased life"... I actually forgot this was part of her ruling. Amazing how selective she was about which evidence was to be taken at face value.

Discussion between the verdict and sentencing

What's to prove though? It was there wasn't it? I seem to remember Nel saying that oscars defense team would have jumped up and objected if he was wrong. Oscar claimed ignorance. Am I missing something? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk and I have large thumbs.

Discussion between the verdict and sentencing

It was in his safe but he says he didn't know about it. Beautiful! It's just that easy when you're rich and famous isn't it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk and I have large thumbs.

Discussion between the verdict and sentencing

I didn't even bother listening to why he got off on that one. It seemed open and shut, what was her reasoning for it again? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk and I have large thumbs.

Discussion between the verdict and sentencing

I've thought this as well. I feel for South Africa, they knew their justice system would be in the spotlight and they still found a way to bugger it up. Only if Oscar is given the maximum 15 years would this have a chance at looking any better.

Discussion between the verdict and sentencing

This is the last trial I'll follow again for a long time. Justice is for the rich. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk and I have large thumbs.

Discussion between the verdict and sentencing

Not much left to discuss. Perhaps the judge could sit in a room that small and not reasonably expect to get hit and killed but would anyone else do it? Let alone take that gamble four times?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk and I have large thumbs.

    Trial Discussion Thread #53 - 14.12.9, Day 42 ~ final verdict~

Oscar will be forever known as a reckless, violent, paranoid, frightened little man who screams like a girl. I doubt that is of any comfort to Reeva's loved ones though.

    Trial Discussion Thread #53 - 14.12.9, Day 42 ~ final verdict~

Hopefully he gets a hard sentence for this one. How can he plead not guilty for it and lie his *advertiser censored* off on the stand about it only to have his lawyer concede that he was indeed guilty without any repercussions? IMO, Oscar has to see jail time for the homicide. If he doesn't it's opening a...

    Trial Discussion Thread #53 - 14.12.9, Day 42 ~ final verdict~

This is the second trial I've watched from start to finish, the first being the OJ trial. This has done nothing but to reaffirm my thoughts that despite our beliefs of humanity evolving for the better, there are still two sets of rules for society, just like there always have been.

    Trial Discussion Thread #51 - 14.11.9, Day 41 ~announcement of the verdict~

When are people going to learn? Democracy doesn't work! How could he not have foreseen that he might hurt and kill another human being is ridiculous when he himself testified that he worried about ricochets off the shower wall hurting him? Hopefully he'll get a hard sentence on the other...

    Trial Discussion Thread #45 - 14.07.3, Day 36

I've been busy travelling for work and am just catching up on this week. Did this witness say that he didn't read the record of what has gone on thus far and then later say that he had to read the record AGAIN to be sure of what he was talking about? This psych delay ruined this trial for...

    Trial Discussion Thread #39 - 14.05.14 Day 32

That's why the "punishing him twice" remark was so puzzling. Why she referring to the trial as punishment? Or was she thinking about the jail time she was going to hit him with unless Roux's last few witness' really blew her skirt up? Either way, it seemed like an odd remark since except for...

    Trial Discussion Thread #39 - 14.05.14 Day 32

I was going to say this myself. Did the judge let something slip when she mentioned punishing him twice? I'll give her the benefit of the doubt but it made me wonder. Also, slightly off-topic, if Oscar was an ordinary bloke making minimum wage, wouldn't he have been sitting in jail this whole...

I doubt it happens but this could be Oscars last night as a free man for awhile. I'd be having myself a good meal tonight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I thought it was odd too, I probably misheard. She has a very soft voice for someone who constantly tells others to speak up.

Nel agrees with Roux about not being emotional. I love it.
