Crew are regularly and randomly “Damp” tested for drug and alcohol abuse.
He looked out of shape when I was in court to see him testify. He actually said that he had lost weight…however at the time of the incident he was quite a few kilos bigger. Pilot’s need to go through stringent medicals...
I can’t tell you many crew I’ve witnessed over the years try and cover up scenarios in order not to loose their ASIC/ career. Flying jet aircraft is quite specialised so you just don’t walk out and get another job (GL in court said that he had no other qualifications to fall back on).
Aviation is a tough business to remain profitable. There would be an uproar of crew that would not want to fly with GL even if he was a passenger let alone Pilot. Jetstar could not risk their reputation should GL walk and be reemployed. I’ve gone through a few Pilot shortages over the...

Hmm crew would normally go into the briefing room for the next flight to collect paperwork/weather etc…..or if they were changing A/C they would be going thru their checks in the Flight Deck. If the A/C was terminating the cleaners would come on. and complete.

Over the last 20 years it has been much harder to get an ASIC a full security check is done via Auscheck. My ex husband was an aircraft engineer…35 years ago he used to have a picture of his Rhodesian Ridgeback on his ASIC!!!
No idea why Tweet….when we entered the Gallery she had left a seat vacant … the lady arrived later and asked the gentleman on the door to let her in as it was her lawyer.
