Note: After leaving the peak, there is no mobile phone signal anywhere on this part of Esther’s route towards Refuge de Venasque.
If there was a planned sabotage this would be a good place to do so on the hours hike with no phone. Although realistically the phone would not be helpful in a remote...
"Not only had Esther relayed this plan to her partner, she had also communicated this same intention to multiple witnesses who reported meeting Esther during her ascent to Pic de Sauvegarde. The Guardia Civil search team told Dan that they could track Esther’s ascent at various stages thanks to...
In the UK it's very strict and easier to control as not so many extensive wild areas shared by animals and the general public alike. Permission to shoot is needed. Gun licences are very strictly monitored. In mountains it would not be easy (or possible I guess) to section off areas, or to...
There were clearly hunters in the relevant areas both before and after the SAR searches that DC noticed. The hunting season was in full swing at that time. This also means people around that could have seen ED. It's possible, that if they haven't already done so, someone will still come forward...
So the 3 possible explanations for ED's disappearance still remain in DC's mind. With the 3rd party theory re involuntary disappearance seeming uppermost for him. Doesn't rule out the possibility of ED being picked up in a car. Of course it was always likely random people were in the mountains...
The police doing additional investigations, along with a judicial review is normal when anyone disappears. Nothing can be ruled out until the person, or a body is found, regardless of what is considered the most likely explanation. So the various scenarios will always be in peoples minds. Very...
Phew! My heart pounded reading the school tragedy. Interesting that the admired school leader Tom Goman was later seen by one fan to have 'issues' and did a crazy demo for them, alongside leading them into danger. Highlights those who followed their instincts re what was manageable- v- those who...
Very revealing about how they saw their experiences and tested themselves. The excerpt re reference to 'glaciers, precipitous ridges and vertical laddered cliffs'. Maybe explains his view of the pyrenees routes as relatively 'easy' for ED. Ominous! Left me thinking ED may have pushed herself too...
Partner of missing hiker dismisses ‘new life’ theory
At the risk of being repetitive I've attached an old article that gives straight forward thoughts about her disappearance from DC and EDs mother. Showing that weeks ago, having covered the area himself, DC was very sceptical about the...
Skiers ignore Covid lockdown rules in Scotland to flock to Cairngorm Mountain | Daily Mail Online
Couldn't resist this article just to show walkers, sledders and skiers flagrantly ignoring lockdowns in Scotland. I don't believe Scotland is unique, and just thinking of all the cars at the...
Of course there's always a WHY!!! This one is if the above is the case wouldn't she just return home so they could work it out together? She has been a relatively open person. A relative described her as an 'open book'.
BBM - It does seem that something altered her usual routines of keeping in touch. The issue of giving up their lifestyle of the previous years to settle down has likely been the cause of inner conflict for ED. I think the issue was raised earlier from her Facebook posts?? Not an easy one to...
I believe it's difficult to discuss alternatives to ED having met with an accident. Partly due to the lack of information. Also to do so would feel like minimsing any trauma she may have suffered and we'd be left feeling so terrible even heartless. It's also difficult to do without making...
True but what are the facts? There has been a detailed and knowledgeable examination of the area, with types of terrain, lengths, widths, heights, hours per km, weather conditions, quality and amounts of equipment along with the various trails, possible routes and danger points. Temperatures...
This would certainly fit with the part of Captain Bordinaro's statement that she left voluntarily. He added to this the possibility of a criminal act. Quite an assertive statement to come from the police involved if a bit premature, unless they have more information.
I also want to add that my family in France do AirBnB and have continued to do so, legitimately, throughout the lockdown, with regular guests arriving, some but not all for work reasons. Some French some not. So there is regular movement going on in France regardless of lockdown.
Many thanks RedHaus - OK so unless ED was intending to travel into France for whatever reason, it's unlikely she would be in the area of the Ski Resort, a long way from Banasque and her van. It's hard to think of a logical reason for such a decision in the final days before returning home to DC...
I don't have too much confidence about lockdowns to be honest. Whilst most people try to keep within the rules, many people (although a minority) do not. I understand there are many demonstrating (rioting) in Paris and it doesn't get reported. Many young people (under 30s maybe) openly defy the...
