Right, but there are still potential conflicts if he represented DR on a past matter.

Lol, I didn't think it was dumb. LE likely would be able to charge some of the POIs with a drug-related offense. Did you ever hear the phrase "trumped-up charges?" The point of doing that would be to detain them for questioning, where they could then ask about other stuff (or at least have...

There are, potentially, many conflicts of interest at play here. A lot of different factors go into determining this, certain conflicts can be waived, etc. I would say that it's not a problem right now, as long as the situation you described doesn't occur. It could be a problem in the future...

If you've ever seen an attorney try to qualify an expert witness (like a scientist) in court you'll understand how true this is.

Question for SmoothOperator - (or anyone else!) Could she have turned towards JW's from where JR last saw her? Or would that route not make sense/have caught her on cam? Sorry, I'm sure this has been discussed, I'm terrible with directions, even looking at a map.

I think that the hypothetical you posed in an interesting one, but yeah, I think that LE could arrest your neighbor in that case, especially if all the other neighbors were saying that this is something they did regularly. There's motive and opportunity.

Gabby66 - you are definitely right on about high-powered attorneys being able to get them off (if LE did arrest them at this point). What would probably happen is that LE arrests one of them, they sit in jail for a short amount of time, if they are questioned it is done in the presence of their...

LE just needs probable cause to believe that a crime was committed. Hearsay, or a bunch of kids saying that the kids partied/may have given drugs to LS is enough.

"The best-known definition of probable cause is "a reasonable belief that a person has committed a crime".[2] Another common definition is "a reasonable amount of suspicion, supported by circumstances sufficiently strong to justify a prudent and cautious person's belief that certain facts are...

I think they probably have enough evidence to arrest (on unrelated charges). Hearsay, or 2nd person accounts of what occurred are an okay basis to use for probable cause. I'm not saying arrest them though, I don't think they would glean much info from them anyways.

I said they arguably had probable cause for to arrest some of the POIs. Probable cause is not a very high standard to overcome. And yes, they could arrest the POIs on any number of unrelated charges, police everywhere do this all the time to detain people they suspect have committed more...

As a person I agree 100%. As an attorney, probably not so much. Like I said, I don't practice crim law, but I'm pretty certain a defense attorney would advise her client to keep his mouth shut. The attorneys, while not necessarily trying to be uncooperative, act in the best interest of their...

I am an attorney, but I don't practice criminal law. IMO though, the police have probable cause to issue search warrants, and arguably they have it to arrest certain POIs.

Totally agree. Had the night turned out differently and she was just passed out or having an adult sleepover somewhere she may have been unreachable until the time they reported her missing. I would be both flattered and PISSED if my friends felt the need to report me missing so soon, but I...

This is a great point. However, everyone is speculating regardless. It's hard for me to step into their shoes, (the friends/POIs) but my reaction would be to clear my name and, more importantly, help find my friend. Even if I was lawyered up I would ask my attorney to make a statement on my...

"Indiana University student AJ Amin, 19, told The Journal News on Friday that he saw a small purple pouch with a gold key shortly before 3 a.m. that morning on the sidewalk near that building. He said he left it there and that a friend of his put it on a railing when he saw it there a few hours...

"Friendships forged four years ago at the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity house on the IU campus may play a role in this investigation. It was at the AEP house that Spierer's boyfriend, Jesse Wolff, met Jay Rosenbaum. Rosenbaum is believed to be the last person to have seen Spierer at 4:30 a.m. at...

I agree with college students mostly texting, but not at that hour. If I'm out late and need to get in touch with someone who I think is sleeping I would definitely call because you'd have a better chance of waking them up.
