I would have hoped a very gentle conversation by a loved one of the children would have ascertained any details of the last conversation NB had with them such as the car journey to school that morning. It would be very telling perhaps IMO. My heart truly breaks for them.

You've just hit on something IMO. Wasn't it reported the first lady on the scene who found the dog was reported as saying she might have fallen in if she had been faffing etc? Can't find the link sorry.

There is a possibility somebody innocently found NB phone nearby or along the walking route and placed it on the bench for the owner to find. Now daren't come forward for fear of backlash etc. JMO
