It's a rabbit hole and we don't know how deep it goes. I'm just guessing it might be a long while before we hear anything, and I don't think we'll be hearing from Beth. I also have the sense that her husband is distraught for a very good reason. He knows things.

I think this is a strong possibility, too. The cops don't mind looking like they don't know much. It never hurts to ask questions when you already know the answers. You learn more that way.

SK may have seemed too clean cut, or he may have indicated his morals wouldn't let him do something. I also would think in a scenario like this, business and personal are getting mixed together, even if the personal is simply assuming a friendship must be reinforced with a Sunday lunch.
