I think there was an onboard fire, and that everyone was overcome....plane continued to fly on autopilot until it ran out of fuel and crashed into the Indian Ocean. JMO.

But, using the hijacking theory, how do we explain that NONE of the passengers attempted to contact loved ones/police etc via cell phone? I cannot wrap my head around that.

If there was an explosion large enough the blow a hole in the side of the plane, but not large enough to blow it to pieces, I would think that would account for the sudden veer right, the drop in altitude and the lack of mayday. The plane would suddenly go down, fuel tanks could remain intact...
