    Trial Discussion Thread #23 - 14.04.11, Day 21

I can't see her getting out on her side of the bed in the dark with all the fans and cords on the floor. The only thing that I could think is she would have gotten out on his side of the bed. And, why was she up when he woke up? He sat up in bed and she said something to him immediately.

He just said the open balcony door didn't bother him while he was awake. But he went to sleep. Was he counting on Reeva moving all the fans and closing it before she went to sleep? He would then have been upset if he woke up and found the balcony doors still open, I would think.

Hmmm... another strange fact: I'm listening to the back and forth testimony about the alarm. It seems to me if he wanted immediate help that night, he would have opened the bedroom door and run out and tripped the alarm on purpose. That would insure immediate help coming. So why...

Oops. Yes, you're right. Were they planning to be together on Valentine's day, too?

I know. Talking to his cousin on Valentine's Day? Playing on Ipads and telephones? Going to sleep? lol

So do you think it's looking like they didn't go to bed at all? The other issue is stomach contents--didn't they say Reeva had eaten two hours before she died? That means 1am instead of 7pm. What will the defense do about that? Any blood tests on alcohol?

lol! I can't believe they don't have central ac in those fancy houses. Did you understand his description of putting the fan halfway onto the balcony and then closing the curtains around the fan? I couldn't figure out what he was saying there. Why did he close the balcony doors at all if...

That's an excellent question. They were both up, so it's not like she was going to wake anyone up. And why did he try to do all that fan business in the pitch dark, for that matter. Especially since he was on stumps, easy to trip over those stupid extension cords, etc. That's a key question.

Was there any good reason to put OP on the stand? Personally, I can't think of one.

Yeah. Is that normal to take your phone into the bathroom at 300am, lock the door, and by the way, be fully dressed? Seems odd. You'd have to be really addicted to that phone.

    Trial Discussion Thread #22 - 14.04.10, Day 20

I watched a CSI youtube where they took both sides and looked at the evidence. They set up a facsimile of the bedroom and when they turned the lights out and pulled the drapes shut, it was impossible to see anything. Also, he had his back to the bed when he was moving the fans, and he had the...

    Trial Discussion Thread #22 - 14.04.10, Day 20

Another question I have, if he's so paranoid about intruders [which I think sounds understandable given the situation there], why would he go to sleep with the balcony door wide open? Especially given his immediate fear the someone had come through the open bathroom window. So he locks the...

    Trial Discussion Thread #22 - 14.04.10, Day 20

That's interesting. I would think it would favor the prosecution more than the defense. I saw today's testimony with the fan nonsense. That picture of the fan and duvet does kind of destroy Oscar's testimony. They will have to prove it was changed from the original. I did see another...

What are the theories about why he would bring her downstairs? What purpose would that serve?

    Trial Discussion Thread #22 - 14.04.10, Day 20

What do people think about the fact that Reeva was dressed? Why would she be wearing shorts and top in the middle of the night? Had she decided to leave instead of spending the night?

I'm really glad to hear that. The thought of Reeva screaming while he was shooting her was too much to bear. I am new on this case and don't know all the details yet. But, what I do know is giving me a huge headache. Do you think the prosecution will be able to prove anything?

    SIDEBAR #8- Arias/Alexander forum

Yes it was murder but they have a type of murder charge called 'sudden passion' which allows the Jury to just release her or give her a maximum of up to 20 years. This Jury gave her the maximum, 20 years. Manslaughter is murder, it's just different circumstances than murder one. Jurors...

Thanks. It wasn't murder one. It was some kind of 'sudden passion' murder charge, they're calling it manslaughter here, with a maximum of 20 years. But, it sounds very similar to the overkill in this case. That's assuming you do not believe premed was proven, which I don't. IMO The Texas...

    SIDEBAR #8- Arias/Alexander forum

How is this case any different from Clara Harris, who snapped and ran over her husband three times. She got murder two and will be eligible for parole this year [which I think is ten years]. It's the same 'overkill.' And I don't think anyone would argue Clara Harris was a psychopath even...
