I had a random thought about this case today. I wonder if the DNA was tested for ethnicity. It's obviously not a perfect science, but Papini did claim she was abducted by two Hispanic women. If the DNA from the man and woman collected from her clothes came back as English/Irish, that would be...
I don't think they were facing long sentences. I posted the following last year, but the Calaveras courts website won't load for me so I haven't been able to find out the final disposition.
The DNA on SP's clothes must have been significant, not just a random hair or a bit of sweat on a shirt. I assume the male DNA was on her underwear or in such a large amount elsewhere that LE would find it appropriate to mention. I also assume it was semen, but who knows?
As for a rape kit, if...
What an awful article. They claim she was "running freely around a car park - hours before she was found." If I understand the timeline correctly, the video was taken seven minutes before she was found by the highway at 4:22 AM.
IIRC, the people from the church said that there was nothing on the tapes. Perhaps LE was holding that close while they tried to track down vehicles shown in that timeline.
I don't remember hearing anything about drugs either way. Any announcement would have to have come from the family. The police and/or the hospital wouldn't release tox screen info on a victim. Besides, any drugs that may have been in her system could have been forced on her.
Switching gears, KP...
The obvious conclusion drawn from the gunshot is that one kidnapper killed the other, but it could be so many other things. First, to someone imprisoned and stressed out, a lot of loud noises might sound like a gunshot. But if it indeed was, it could have been something like a gun fired into a...
Almost one year later and still not a clue what to think.
On the bright side, SP wasn't sexually assaulted.
Current most likely scenario: SP got involved with the wrong man and the wife or girlfriend wanted payback.
In an earlier thread, someone linked to the Calaveras County court records relevant to that case. Both women were held with bonds of $800,000. At some point, all of kidnapping and trafficking charges were dropped, leaving only marijuana cultivation and battery charges, and both had their bail...
I got pilloried for suggesting that one of the captors might have had an ounce of humanity and orchestrated SP's release, but here we are again. I feel that Lake can't say exactly what happened, obviously, but what would anyone's first question to SP be, if you knew her? "How did you get away?"...
What about this report that a relative found SP's jogging clothes in a ditch on Old Oregon Trail, back on Nov. 7th?

I didn't start reading these threads until after SP was found. Was there anything to it? The location seems significant because, unless I'm mistaken...
