BBM What on earth would someone steal a tractor-trailer unit for? Surely not for a one-time joy ride. They are upwards of 65 feet in length and not just anyone can drive one of those rigs, given all the gears and bells and whistles on them, farm boy, or not. Any idea where this unit was stolen...
Wasn't there some earlier discussion about another car accident that involved a semi? Some people were wondering whether DG might have been driving that semi, if it was the one that he'd been charged with stealing.
You're right, ldbd.
Greg Head, their neighbour, said: "Jen goes to pick up Nathan and there’s lots of blood and no one there."

Sad news indeed. I give thanks every day that I was born into a decent, loving family.
What I found interesting about this story is that LE had the son in their sights as a suspect from the beginning but it took several months to find enough evidence to seal the deal. Compare that to this case...
Also they'd have to have at least 1 other security guard on duty for each additional room, just in case someone decides to take justice into their own hands.
Extremely doubtful, I'd think. I agree with you there, Krystine.
But there are external hard drives with very large storage capacities and one of those would be more efficient than using however many flash drives or discs. All LE would need to do is hook up the external hard drive and copy all...
I'm not sure that's quite right, otto.
The heart certainly wouldn't be pumping blood after death but if the body has wounds the blood would still ooze out. Depending on the number and severity of wounds, it could still be a substantial blood loss given sufficient time.
Or a truck bed ramp. I've seen some commercial ones for quads and I've also seen homemade ones made from wood.
{edit: Oops, I was focused on your mention of winch and overlooked your mention of ramp.}
Early on I was thinking about how the killer might have transported the bodies (I was...
I wonder if he had really been accepted.
Granted, requirements might have changed since then but this is what the U of A wants from med applicants.
(1) Academic requirements:
All applicants to the MD program must be registered in or have completed a degree program.
The minimum requirement...
Er, did you actually read those pages?
From the first link:
Summary
Lets face it, you will most likely not be succeed at faking your own death. You will probably just reinforce the authorities belief that you have unlawfully fled prosecution for your crimes. Despite my meticulous planning...
Yes, I believe that many detectives do develop good intuition, and that may help them somewhat. But court cases are tried on facts.
Anyway, I'm bowing out of this fruitless discussion. We each have our own thoughts about the case and there's no reason we have to agree with each other.

Not applicable in my opinion. There's a big difference between a new mother killing her baby (in a horrible way!) and a GRANDmother putting her grown daughter (the same one she raised and cared for all those years) through sheer hell by stealing her child and making her believe they were dead.
Seriously? You're trying to compare a guy who pretended to get lost at sea with a house and farm full of physical forensic evidence, enough to allow LE to determine the victims are dead? Sorry, that doesn't cut it. IMO, at least.
For one thing, all they went by in the canoe man's case (I...
Just a few pages back newstalk addressed a post in which a WS member wondered whether they might still be alive; newstalk made it very clear that LE must have substantial physical evidence of their deaths in order to bring charges of both first degree and second degree murder.
It's...
Oh wait ... reading this a second time and now I'm confused.
PREVIOUSLY (i.e. prior to the new rules enacted as of Feb. 1, 2012) the youngest was deemed to have survived. But NOW it's "distributed as if each person died before the other".
Were they smoking some funny tabaccy when they came up...
That's a good point, yes. It might have some relevance after all.
Geez, assuming the Ls had wills in place, I can imagine a nightmarish scenario for lawyers trying to determine who predeceased whom.
If, for instance, AL made KL his heir and beneficiary if he predeceased her, but made one of...
Just a quick drive-by look in; I've got pages and pages to catch up on, but this one I can speak to.
It seems to be a common thing to rent out vacation condos when the owners aren't using them. I have a relative who bought a place elsewhere in MX a couple of years ago after years of renting...
