I don't see myself as one "who trusts LE". I believe that's how you're classifying me.
What I am is someone who doesn't trust judgements made without relevant facts to support them.
I think it's pretty clear What IB is saying - it's not that hard to cypher out.
The implication by some on here is that LE are all fumbling idiots. But if there was an urgent and personal need for their services they would be relied upon to be the white knights. How ironic.
They make mistakes...
Going one step back: no one is forced to break the law by selling or doing drugs either.
Also for dennygreen - if alcohol is "the most dangerous drug available" let me ask this question: if you had to leave your kid with one or the other, would you pick a junkie or a drunk? (Academic question...
IF the scenario you lay out is what happened, then its drugs....drug dealers....and drug users to blame. Not LE.
Just my opinion but to focus on LE turns a blind eye to the killer in the room.
We can focus where we want but doesn't it make more sense to show outrage and make efforts focused...
All of this reminds me of tactics used to hunt pheasants:
Sometimes you want to make as much noise as possible to flush the birds.
Sometimes you stand and wait quietly making them nervous. EventuallY they flush and lose the game of nerves.
Sometimes we use hand grenades........
If this car is found to be connected to the original tipster I'd be ready to jump on board with MM and her merry band of LE distrusters. One can assume (?!?!) they looked into that possibility.....right?!

How likely is this scenario: LE has NOT ruled the car owner as not involved. But wants him to think they have.
