That’s a bit of a stretch, & MUCH more likely to be the husband-

We try to deal with it, so that we can avoid it, so that it is something that we can see as atrocious, & hope that it never happens to us or anyone we know.

I don’t think very highly of his parents, but I don’t think that even they will be able to justify his killing of his wife (even if they hated her) & the children- I think they will try to block it out of their mind.
