-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The lunch was a snatched 20 minute affair sharing a plate of cheesy chips - hardly a long good-bye! But I agree entirely about the lack of contact over the wekend - most odd, in all...

But if he'd remained in the UK, wouldn't his phone have shown his whereabouts? In which case, the police could have swooped long ago. Unless he switched it off for weeks on end, or has several phones, etc etc - all of which would be cause for suspicion.

Yes, MissMarple2, I doubt whether media reports that he was quickly eliminated are at all accurate. I feel the police have just been playing a waiting game, ie waiting for his return to the UK.

Struggling to keep with everything after the recent dramatic turn of events! It does seem incredible that anyone could have been eliminated at the outset, based on just a phone call with the police, as has been suggested. Can you imagine the conversation: “Do you have any scratch...

There does seem to be a groundswell of suspicion amongst websleuths towards GR, perhaps because of media reports of the police’s doubts over crucial alibi evidence. But could he really have been that clever, that cunning, that lucky? I’d still prefer the perp to be someone as yet unidentified...

Yes, but I thought (perhaps assumed) that he'd stopped for fuel on the way, in which case an hour or so's delay during only that first part of a 3 hr journey would be difficult to account for, wouldn't it?

I’ve previously expressed sympathy for GR and hope that hasn’t been misplaced. Something needs explaining though. When he returned home on Sunday, there was almost certainly an undisturbed carpet of snow on the path leading to the front door of the flat: no postman (post delivered other side)...

From post #332: "The chap next door, Peter Stanley, was asleep about 6pm when Chris Jefferies rang him and said, 'Have you got any jump leads?' He said the boyfriend's car wasn't working." Looks like CJ knew an hour before GR that the car wasn't going to start!

Some useful points. On the use of the word “tidy”, I’ve only seen one reference to this (in a local paper), and dismissed it really as a throwaway remark. I think it just meant “not untidy”, “nothing out of the ordinary”, “no furniture out of...

Ironically, though, on Friday 17th, with a snowy backdrop, this would have increased visibility, and difficulty of movement.

(Questions from Nausicaa's post) 3. What were the details about the flat which enabled Mr and Mrs Yeates to conclude, in about half an hour, that Joanna had been abducted, but which Mrs Yeates specifically states that the police have asked her not to reveal ? (We know about the presence of...

Re the poll, fascinating interim result. I see GR’s still ahead by a nose, but not for much longer, I’m willing to bet. To be honest, I fear that a lot of sleuthing effort is being dissipated. True, GR may not have done himself any favours: the 4 hours it took to “wake up”, the press...

I agree, maybe best to do the poll at at the start of the next thread. Re CJ - If the police clear him too readily, it would tend to undermine their case that his arrest was justifiable when they are sued by him.

I agree. We seem to be going round in circles now. I think we've gone as far as we can with the limited information/disinformation/misinformation made available. What might be useful, or at least keep things fresh at this stage, would be a snapshot of members' views (one line answers only)...

Because they're enjoying and want to prolong their licence to take DNA (both human and feline).

Couldn't sleep, thinking about felines. Serious point this time. After arriving home, Jo would have picked up and stroked her cat - she'd have Bernard's hairs/ DNA all over her. And so would the murderer. And so would the vehicle in which her body was transported. I wonder if...

Bernard the cat was probably a witness to the murder. Shame cats can't talk. I expect he'd react in a certain way, though, eg cower in a dark corner, if the murderer were to come through the door again. Or perhaps a wax model would be enough.....I'm tired, I'm going to bed.

I don't know what to make of this - PS seems confused. In fact, both CJ and PS have come across as confused, almost as if they hadn't properly rehearsed their lines in a conspiracy. Add to that, LORP, who is just plain weird - you couldn't make this up, could you?

Unlikely because it was taken in June 2010 ie well before she moved to Bristol (unless the date has been doctored - aren't we a suspicious bunch!) Spookily like her though, and conceivably significant for that.
