Australia Claremont Serial Killer, 1996-1997, Perth, Western Australia - #8 ARREST*

Crazy to see these headlines after all these years. How far we've come...

Interesting. IMO, some similarities with the March 1996 assault in the lane behind CBV - "he also threatened her with a brick" (SA); young woman's head bashed against brick wall (1996 assault); use of lanes.

Re SS's last seen position: which spot would have been the best lit? I think there is a chance that that would be the preferred waiting place for a young woman on her own, regardless of the direction she was heading. Just IMO.

Definitely. If any contributor (or reader) here is an actual insider, please consider contacting WS to become verified as I think it would help immensely.

We don't have any verified insiders on this thread, do we?

Thanks. I didn't watch the vids as couldn't get them to work (issue on my end with player), so I just read the transcripts from the eps.

    Australia Claremont Serial Killer, 1996 - 1997, Perth, Western Australia - #5

A victim being found nude does not indicate that there was a consensual sex act prior to their murder. Many, many killers have removed and/or destroyed their victims' clothing. I would also be interested to see a photo of ML; I have conducted basic searches to no avail. Other feasible reasons...

That's interesting. Do you mean you came across him in real life and had concerns?

Thanks for your response, firestarter. I actually deleted my post because when I re-read it, it came across way more cryptic than I had intended (and there is already enough of that around here!). Have you posted on bigfooty under a different name?

That's a great writeup, GreenDevil - thank you. With regards to SS potentially getting into a vehicle, I'm just trying to put myself in that situation to come up with some ideas... My first thought was that she may have been concerned that she would be waiting there a long time (as Bart said)...

Bart, in your opinion, was LW well known, or easily recognised at the time as a "harmless loner" (going back to the descriptions you gave as Bunsen et al on BF)? Was it common knowledge that this guy offered men/women lifts in the Claremont area? Do you think it would be at all likely that at...

I think it's also important to note (especially for those who are international), that the local rumour mill with regards to this case is, and always has been, c.r.a.z.y. I guess the different comments and opinions that come through these threads are a testament to that. To this day, you can...

I'm with you on the attention seekers. It's unfortunate and it's inappropriate, but it's a given; a high profile case shrouded in mystery will attract some who just want to "be a part of it". The phone call to Mr Spiers is interesting, though, as he himself was reported as believing it to be...

If legit, she did refer to being questioned about what she saw and her parents giving their statements, so it comes across to me that the police would be aware of her story.

Most definitely. I hope that the Dodd and Spiers families are one day able to bury their loved ones, with the respect and dignity they deserve. Interesting reading. Paragraphs 57+ are informative with regards to the use of DNA as evidence in such cases.

    Australia Claremont Serial Killer, 1996 - 1997, Perth, Western Australia - #4

The latest news of a proposed "no body, no parole" legislation in Western Australia piqued my interest with regards to the CSK case: http://www.skynews.com.au/news/national/wa/2016/02/14/-no-body--no-parole--laws-wanted-in-wa.html. Then one search led to another, as it does, and I found...

Not presuming and not from recent additions. Look back further. There are a couple of photos that have been dated as a few days before JR's disappearance in 1996. There are also newspaper clippings with photos, including at least one with a date in the 90's.

So you are ruling him out based on this evidence... however, you do not believe that this is the same person? FYI, another search informs me that someone by the same name disembarked in Adelaide in 1964.
