I was taught never to go near anyone who was following me, we did not have 911 or cell phone then.My kids were taught by me and school to never go near someone following you, get to a phone and call 911.Now the school is teaching my grandson who is 6 the same thing. My
10yr old same thing and she carries a cell phone.IMO It bothers me neither did. I know it most likely would not have changed the outcome but IMO that is something we will never know because a call was not made.IMO That is why 911 is here for us IMO.
I was taught the same thing and we are teaching our kids that as well.

HOWEVER, I was also taught never to follow anyone that I felt may pose a threat.

Sure a 911 call was made, but the person that called chose to take the law into his own hands anyway. It's not Trayvon's fault that he didn't call 911 before he was killed. Perhaps he was running to get indoors where he felt safe so he could call 911 and report a suspicious man had just been following him.

So it's from Zimmerman to the police and then Tracy Martin. Thanks. That's not hearsay to me.

It's not a hard leap from this to understand why they involved an attorney very early on. Their hinky meters had to have been setting off seismic monitors.

So that's where all of this homie / homeboy stuff is coming from? Leaks from the Police dept?

It's what Trayvon's father says the cops told him that Zimmerman told them what Trayvon said.

I've not seen a quote from police that Zimmerman said "homie". I didn't hear his father say it either, but I only listened once. Wasn't this what Tracy Martin said the police told him? Didn't Tracy Martin also demonstrate where Trayon was laying when he was shot, and the police said that information was not given to Tracy?
BBM

That's one I'd surely appreciate a link to. Not being confrontational at all, but I've been relying on Tracy Martin's description as to the placement of the body.

Do you remember where you read the police saying they didn't give him that info?

I believe GZ's dad said he said, "homie". This makes me believe that their friend Joe Oliver may have come up with that scenario. He is after all the resident black friend. He looks to be in his late 30's early 40's which would put him in the "homie" era. Being that he is out of touch with black youngsters he doesn't realize that they now use cali terms alot like "dude". Now, if he said, (like TM girlfriend said TM said, "there is a dude following me") that TM had said, "what's up dude" that would have been more believable.

What made me even more suspicious was when GZ's dad said that TM said to GZ after he was shot "you got me". I seriously doubt any words uttered out of that poor child's mouth after being shot. It was a close shot so he most likely died instanly and judging from his screams on the 911 calls he would not have uttered "you shot me" or "you got me" after being shot so close. Horrific.

So it was GZ's dad who said "homie"? Or maybe Joe Oliver? I'm getting confused on who said the word "homie".

Not hearsay. It's essentially Zimmerman's version. One of them anyway, cause the other is that Trayvon said nothing but jumped him GZ from behind.

No GZ told everyone that's supposedly what Trayvon said IMO

Ranch, with all due respect, I've spent the last half hour helping you out with this and I even posted the Washington Post article link which contains the interview. Can't you read the article?

Zimmerman was perfectly within his rights to carry a gun. He was within his rights to report someone suspicious. He was within his rights to deduce, from experience, what suspicious behavior looks like and he was within his rights to follow, from a distance until told to do otherwise. Trayvon was within his rights to be there visiting his father's fiance, he was within his rights to walk down the middle of the courtyard - even to look around at houses. He was absolutely within his rights to stare at GZ, come toward him and take off running. Trayvon Martin was not within his rights to come around and sucker punch George and slam his head into the cement. When he saw Zimmerman's gun, he was not within his rights to try and take it from him.

Saying George was stalking Trayvon is not a fact - no matter how many times it is said, it's not going to be. Saying George has a history of racism is not a fact - could it be? Sure, but we've seen zero evidence of it, so IMO, it shouldn't be repeated again and again as if it is.

As it stands, both George and Trayvon are considered victims here - I'll continue to respect Trayvon, not only because I empathize with his parents, but because our words are forever and I would hate to think George's parents would read here someday and be hurt by something I might have said that has absolutely no basis in truth.

JMO
You don't know that's what happened. I'm sure Trayvon would tell a different story if he were alive.

I would believe that GZ said "I got you" after shooting Tray before I I would believe that this child said "you got me" after being shot, jmo

We know Zimmerman was in his vehicle when Trayvon first approached him. We hear him get out of the vehicle. This is on the 911 tape. So how does this fit:

Trayvon Martin walked up to Zimmerman’s vehicle and asked why he was following him. Zimmerman denied following the youth and rolled up the car window. Minutes after Trayvon walked away, Zimmerman got out of his vehicle.

Then came the second encounter, according to Tracy Martin’s recollection of the detective’s account. Trayvon Martin appeared from behind a building in Zimmerman’s gated community, approached him and demanded, “What’s your problem, homie?”

When Zimmerman replied that he didn’t have a problem, Martin said, “You do now.” The unarmed teenager hit Zimmerman, knocked him to the ground, pinned him down and told him to “shut the [expletive] up.”

During the beating, Zimmerman pulled his gun and fired one shot at close range into Martin’s chest. “You got me,” the teenager said, falling backward.

That scenario will not fly b/c he died on the grass steps away from his destination. If this version was true then he would die in the parking lot where GZ's car is. In order for GZ to end up on the grass with the kid he has to disobey the rules and follow him.. no other way. Unless Trayvon dragged him from the parking lot onto the grass and started a fight with him steps away from the home that he was making a head for to avoid the "dude that was following him". Imagine being somewhere that is not your home, in the dark with a fatso fake cop following you and having a gun pulled out and being shot. This just breaks my heart. I don't know how his mom does it.. having to hear those screams is really haunting. Everytime I watch the shows I pray that they don't play it b/c it's too much to hear.

This wasn't the screams of just any human being or animal, it was the screams of a child. How does someone decide which children are worth advocating for?

Helpless children.

Actually "son" would be more up to date. As in..."you trippin, son".

Irregardless of where Tracy Martin got his information as to where his son died, he wasn't too far off, was he?

I apologize. I did miss your link to the Washington Post article.

Thank you. Thanks you. People are trying to say he didn't follow him -- and I say -- how did he not follow him if they both ended up away from the truck, around the bend, and behind the town homes. I think GZ just took the actual initial meeting at his truck -- which we hear on the 911 tape (GZ says he's staring right at me) -- and fabricated the verbal exchange about what are you doing here?

Hey French...

One version is that Trayvon comes from behind and attacks GZ, the other is (above) that Trayvon confronts him and asks him "You got a problem, homie"...Both come from team Z...you get to make your own choice as to which one led to the shooting in "self-defense."

Hi Tony, these versions are laughable but if we think about it they (Team Z) are planting their seeds for their day in court. If it worked for Baez, it can work for them. We know that it was lie what Baez said about George molesting KC but the jury bought it. I would not be surprised if an idiot, brain dead jury were to buy one of these versions for the truth. Team Z knows what they are doing. They are planning their self defense claim. As absurd as it may sound some people on this very board believe one of these versions of the story. So, all they need is one person on the jury to believe that maybe TM jumped out and scared GZ just to prove his "manhood" and even though GZ disobeyed the 911 operator (which they will have to admit in court) the law still protects him in protecting himself. So, he had to shoot TM. I can see that flying for the jury. Honey, nothing surprises me anymore after July 5, 2011.
