Or maybe JB spent the weekend trying to negotiate with him to work out financial details to retain him again, and part of the negotiation was to give him 24 more hours to try to work something out, so L. put NG off for now. Perhaps if JB & L come to some kind of financial agreement, the interview we will see tomorrow night will be completely different than one we would have seen tonight (more pro-defense)
I believe you might just be onto something! Until tomorrow and we shall see! :seeya:

I believe JB already said he's got a defence attorney lined up.
Nancy didn't showcase KC's case last night.
I truly don't believe lenamon will be representing KC.

I believe that:

1. JB does NOT have a DP qualified attorney lined up
2. JB is having a lot of trouble finding a DP qualified attorney

Reasons Why:

1. No Florida DP qualified attorney wants to be associated with JB
2. Fear that joining JB's team with ruin their reputation
3. They know there is no $ to be made
4. If joining JB's team they would appear desperate
5. They know JB will never give up power
6. They know JB will make a fool out of them
7. Think KC will have the "hots" for them

Maybe this should be a poll!

Okay, so SA has filed a motion...so now the Judge has to set a hearing to make a decision on the motion, if a hearing, when?

Also, JB filed another motion...opposing this motion...

And we have heard nothing from the Judge yet, right?

I think the Judge must be tired...

I don't know if the Judge is tired, I'm sure he is sick and tired of JB's antics. There must be some reason Judge Strickland has not moved on this motion, something must be going on behind the scene.

that is what I was wondering...but wasn't sure how long he had to act on it, from a legal perspective.

I am sure given the gravity of the situation, (The defendent is seeking an attorney capable of defending her very life), that any judge would typically err on the side of giving the defendent a reasonable amount of time to make sure they had the competant and capable representation needed for such a weighty matter. JB's antic's aside. So the judge may be giving this particular motion a somewhat softer touch and seeking to get the wheels moving more in chambers.

On the same note it is in everyone involveds best interest to make sure the defendent is properly represented with skilled competant and knowlegeable council. Preferably without further feeding the media firestorm. So getting a proper DP qualified attorney in the lead chair instead of JB Barnum and his circus of clowns really does have no down sside.

Thanks ~ but I'd think JB could bring him back on board, unless 1) there's bad blood (disagreement) between them, or 2) JB/Casey can't afford his fees. :waitasec: It seems JB needs to find someone rather quickly or the trial may be delayed indefinitely! MOO

or 3) He is involved with other cases and can't commit the time.

I loved how JB said there was no need for a hearing in his motion to strike...humm, my guess is that there is a need !

I heard JB's PR spoksperson said that the DP lawyer will be with him May 28 for this hearing. I guess we'll see who he could find that will take his direction and not mind looking foolish!

I know this has been said before, but I really don't believe he has a DP qualified attorney signed up yet. What possible, logical reason could he have for postponing? This attorney will be the lead and he needs to get to work like yesterday! Why turn his first appearance into a coming out party that is several weeks away, unless you really don't have an agreement yet. No attorney worth his salt will want to play second fiddle to JB. The State is doing the right thing by forcing JB's hand. I just hope the judge will set a hearing soon.

Bolded by me, Chezhire.

My retainer agreements require that I have the authority to bring on whomever I choose as co-counsel, without need of asking for the client's consent. What happens if the client doesn't like who I choose? They still have the right to fire me, which would include any co-counsel I've retained to assist me. Very typical.

hi chezhire...was just curious..or rather nosey..lol but.....if your retainer states you can bring on co counsel without clients consent?, who pays for the co counsel...was just wondering how that operates...hope u dont mind...btw..i enjoy your posts.....

hey Doubletrouble,

maybe you should PM him about his retainer and financial aspects.

Someone posed a question last night on NG which I find fascinating -

If there is not a DP qualified attorney in this case, then all of the leg work, depositions, etc. are for naught. So will there have to essentially be a big do over by a DP qualified defense attorney????

Can you say mistrial possibly...I guess we have to wait and see what the judge will decide

I doubt that. He is still acting in the best interests of his client (I'll wait here until you're all done laughing...........). He could, like the attorney addressing the civil trial depositions, obtain the depos and do the leg work. There is nothing so valuable to retrieve that it needs a specialist attorney to gather it. In fact, a DP lawyer would most likely send an intern to take the depos anyway. He/she would draft some questions to ask the deponent. I think Jose believes he can at least do that much, plus, we have LKB who could draft those questions.

But all of this discovery evidence is being obtained by an attorney who is not qualified to mount a DP defense. JB has not disclosed whether or not he has such an attorney on board his team. I dunno......

LKB is a DP qualified attorney and since all they're doing in a deposition is asking questions, all she has to do is write them out and he can read them off. I think even Jose can handle that much.

I guess I would have more faith in an intern hired by a DP lawyer to ask the right questions than I have in JB

um...I guess I am not so sure...but then I don't really know what kinds of questions would need to be asked...
