I think he should never been offered bond, but that's just me. Guess now his lawyer can argue that Drew has ties to the community, kids, house, girlfriend, job at the cat house, didn't run before....everything but sterling character. :)
Yes, that is what he will argue...along with being a "decorated officer". He will say, "Poor Drew is innocent. He only wants to get home to his kids and his future victim...er...wife." LOL

He is charged with First Degree Murder. We have seen many, many who were not allowed bond of any kind. What makes this case any different?

What are the state laws on bond?

In some states unless it is a Death Penalty case bond must be set.

imo

I think NO BOND would be more appropriate anyway. Wouldn't it be great if the new Judge just said, "Forget about lowering it!" and decides to change the other order? :)

I agree! I really don't understand why first degree murder is entitled to bond anyways...

SS, as angry as I am at Drew P, I still got a chuckle out of your 'slip of the tongue'. :) I can just hear Joel B on air saying that sentence.

BTW was Drew a decorated officer? I thought they fired his as...er...I mean, discontinued his services and he somehow managed to make a comeback?

Well, maybe they could make it a DP case and both Drew and JB would be saved the minor annoyance of this whole bond hearing.:)

Two previously unmentioned people -- Timothy McCarthy and Clinton Charles Van Nocker -- have been granted daily, face-to-face access to Peterson, according to an order signed by Judge Kinney. Peterson remains in the Will County jail since his May 7 arrest for Savio's murder.

A Peterson spokesman said McCarthy and Van Nocker are researchers working on the case for the Michigan law firm of Andrew Abood, one of four defense attorneys on the case.

Deny deny deny! No, please do NOT reduce it, unless it's to 19 million. This is ridiculous, he needs to stay where he is :behindbar

I dont think the judge can really take those remains found into account yet, as there have been no charges brought regarding her. All the charges before him currently are regarding KS.

Now some reasonable arguement may be made that he has a hsitory of untoward things happening to women around him, at this point facing 1st degree murder he really has nothing to lose, and he may be viewed as a clear threat to his current gf (who just hired Gloria Alread while he has been in jail). But I am not sure how much of that will fly without some formal request from her or her lawyer.

I would like to respectfully disagree on this point.

This is about bond- the right to bond, the accused's ability to make bond, the chances that the accused might flee and things like that.

So even though it is bond for only one case, Kathleen's case, the fact that DrewP is under suspicion in another death.... a case where police have named him a suspect, a case where the remains may have been found is a point that I think the judge would have to look at.

Because that second case could increase the pressure on DrewP. And could change the course of the Savio case as it would then be about multiple murders. Even possible penalties could change, it could make a difference between life with or without parole. And even though he isn't charged in that case yet, the fact that he is being investigated and considered as a suspect is something that I think she would have to look at.

I don't think she can increase the bail for these reasons, but she can use it in consideration as to whether or not to reduce it.

Brodsky plans to ask the judge to reduce Peterson's bond to less than $500,000. He called Peterson a "model client" with a good civic record who never fled despite traveling to places such as California, Florida and Mexico during the long probe.

Brodsky also said the four-member defense team has not ruled out asking that a special prosecutor be brought in since Peterson, as a former cop, has worked alongside some of those who are seeking his conviction.

"We are going to fight this case every step of the way," Brodsky said. "We're going to see him exonerated and walk out the courthouse a free man."

Prosecutors and the women's families oppose any bond reduction.

From the Peterson case point of view this judge has two major counts against her. She is female, and DrewP has been shooting off his mouth in ways that are sure to infuriate women. And if the rumor is true that this judge is the one that accepted Kathleen's request to drop the charges on DrewP, then there will be fear that she will remember her feelings when she later found out about Kathleen's death. It's no wonder that they don't want her as the judge.

A source tells CBS 2 that the new judge's husband is an investigator with the Will County Sheriff's office.

And Peterson told a police officer he would be better off if Kathleen Savio was dead because he would be financially ruined by a pending divorce. She was found drowned in her bathtub three weeks later, a gash to the back of her head.

Yes VERY good to hear, thank you SS for posting that! Interesting tidbit of information there as well about the attempt at murder for hire.
