Laptops are allowed in the courtroom but must operate on battery. I'm not sure what the mistrial comment is. This was a pretrial hearing not the trial. Maybe I am confused.
A slight correction SOTS We sat next to a reporter from InSession and she plugged her laptop into a power strip that was in front of us! I believe they have a few such power strips scattered about the courtroom just for this purpose. The media was allowed in first to set up and more than a few of them were 'plugged in' so to speak.
