What I've gathered from these hearings is that Judge Perry is the most patient judge I have ever seen --bar none! These hearings have also confirmed my prior belief that JB is not competent to try this case--no snark-he just isn't competent. Even when Judge Perry was schooling him on the stipulation and made a comment to the effect that one could think that the stipulation was being used by an attorney to ambush the other (clearly meaning JB as the ambusher) JB agreed -but in the sense that JA was the ambusher. Just an embarrassment to the legal profession.
Just finished watching the video of this and it was crystal clear that JB was way out of his league.

JB's meltdown will never get old, imo. I've watched it twice more already. I'm sick I tell ya.

From what I heard on the radio, it could go to a couple of theories...but it was my impression that a level that high was above and beyond normal decomp...IOW...chloroform was directly related to her death.

AV said during the hearing that in his 20 years of experience, he had never once seen chloroform levels that high associated with decomp.

As many other WSers noted at the time, this made me reconsider my previous "nah, KC would never have made/used chloroform on her baby" stance.

Also, when AV got the air samples from OCSO of the trunk liner, and opened them, he said he literally "jumped back" 2 feet because the odor of decomposition was so pungent.

RR, if you have time, please watch at least the afternoon part of today's hearing. Please put pillows down on the floor first, or else you might crack your jaw.

Caller on Prime News right now talking about ICA acting like an attorney and how it is onw more of her flase roles!! Jean Casarez blowing off what the caller said about it hurting her case and is saying she's confident.

ETA: The good looking young guy said it's good for clients to take notes and Vinnie said yeah except when they're talking about the decomposing body of your daughter, you should show some emotion and they all agreed to that.

Bottomline for me today~~
1) Gerus and Bones are far better trained and credentialled than DT
2) Their handlers both did a wonderful job trying to explain the difference between documentation in training logs and In the Field Work..
3) Dogs do not verbally communicate, however give signals to their handlers which indicate "working" not to be confused with Final Alert Signal
4) Dr. Vass, tho educated, was unable to get JB to understand standard Scientific basics in research and data collecting
5) That JB has a temper, and is unable to conduct himself according to proper courtroom decorum
5) Finally......All Frye issues will be admitted into evidence

I do have to admit..I am exhausted..merely because I have had to restrain myself from certain things:banghead:..I also am afraid, my health may suffer IF i try to watch Casey's trial:sick:

Thanks...first I'll need to nap. It's a hard realization, but it's the only explanation as to the levels. When I heard them discussing it on the radio it hit me in the gut...just like it had when it was first reported. I heard about Vass' response to the carpet liner. I am more and more convinced that the As tried to clean the car of pretty much all evidence. They didn't have a prayer against the decomp.

True, he did say it was many times higher than expected for decomp. Maybe it's two things added together...decomp after death by chloroform.

Someone better counsel her to stop and pay attention once in a while (and not just when Baez is up). She seems too removed from what is going on.

Chloroform wasn't just many time it was 10,000 times. That is an incredible amount - IMO.

Maybe I heard something wrong but that is what I got from Vass.

I'm still confused though as to what expert testimony on ICA's state of mind has to do with anything right now. Does the DT have a motion to exclude something that could be excluded based on her state of mind?

No, I think they will describe her state of mind in order to explain to the jury her extremely odd (i.e., happy) attitude after...whatever happened to Caylee that was not Casey's fault. Allegedly.

That's pretty much what they were discussing...only thing left to establish is which way will the prosecution use this...will they say that she chloroformed her to get her to sleep so she could go out and party...or did she out and out use the choroform to kill her (for x, y, and z reasons).

Here is what I posted earlier from what Dr. Vass said in his testimony:

Chloroform rates:

Decomp would equal about 8x control sample.

Trunk sample was about 10,000 times control sample.

Yes, I admit it, this case gave me a chloroform obsession.

IMO, there was way too much chloroform found to be from decomposition.

Does anyone remember what Dr. Vass said about trying to duplicate the results by injection of chloroform into something? I got a phone call and didn't catch much of it.

She paid attention to Dr. Vass, and was quite unhappy about it. Guess that is just b/c she is in jail "on an *advertiser censored**ing whim" though. (CA's 911 call about smell.)

I think she is listening, just looking down and shuffling paper. Not sure how much she comprehends, but she is still only 20 something and has been in jail for nearly 3 years. She can fake being busy and listen. She has nothing better to do everyday.

ETA: There will be plenty of tears and doe eyes at trial, I cannot think they are not coaching her on that.

Oh...we're back to "ugly coping", huh?

I half expected JA to get into it with AV about "could exposure to pool chlorine, combined with any other chemicals, cause such a reading?"

But then thought no, that will be for trial. Also I do believe it has been sleuthed out here on WS that the Anthonys used Baquacil (sp?)--a non-chlorine-containing agent--to keep their pool spic and span. They didn't want Caylee exposed to such harsh chemicals or something like that.

After today, I am feeling a weirdly surging sense of hope that Caylee will find her justice, KWIM? Her truth just keeps getting closer and closer to surfacing.

Yup I heard his testimony caught her attention and then she looked down again. I must watch the video!!

The hearings are over today but the Afternoon thread is busting at the seams. Continue discussion here.

Let's try to make this thread informative. Some of you guys are freakin' hilarious and we all enjoy and need the laughs, but the one-liners are killing the mods people. :bang: So, let's use this thread to discuss, rehash and understand what we have learned over the past 2 days.

aaaand GO!

Thank you for this Beach! I appreciate the Summary thread as well. I find the actual hearing thread is just a gong show and Fuster Cluck. There are WAY too many people in there, many many of the posts are repeat posts as EVERYONE is trying to keep updates coming at the same time, everyone tripping over them selves and such and it is extremely difficult to make sense of all the posts. Additionally, it's rather difficult to either KEEP up with those day of threads or go Through them to catch up. I was wondering if we will have a better more organized posting method for the actual trial?

Is there anyway we can restrict EXCESSIVE posting to keep the threads more fluid and easier to follow. I ADORE the One liners and Quips but I suspect we will have a VERY mess WS come may.

Back to reading and TRYING to catch up

The main thing I came away from the little I got from watching the hearing is that there is no way this trial will only take 8 weeks. JB just isn't succinct enough on his direct or cross examinations. And HHJP has to take far too much time to get JB to stop with his theatrics.

Oh...we're back to "ugly coping", huh?

Yep. I think somehow the defense just recently realized that they didn't have to just use "ugly coping" in a vacuum but instead could say that someone was "ugly coping" BECAUSE of some mental issue. Not a disease or even a disorder, necessarily, but some ability to dissociate oneself from reality in a terrible, stressful situation.
