This debate is driving me mad so I am dragging uklaw's remark regarding Henry Lee over here and we are going to put this baby to bed.

Money ran out long ago. No money to pay for witness to testify at trial. Believe me this was far from a case of the defense not wanting Henry Lee.

Henry Lee was originally retained by the Defense when they DID have money. They paid him a retainer at that time and that was why he came to the evidence inspection. The DT KNEW they had fees hanging out there for deposing and testifying. When it came time for a depo, he dropped off of the defense witness list because Baez had squandered the rest of that $300,000. To this day only about 20% of that $300k has been accounted for. I have been begging for an accounting of where all that money went since before Judge Strickland was recused.

Bottom line - Henry Lee is no longer an expert witness for the defense because they spent the money they had instead of putting it back to pay his future fees for depositions and testifying at trial. fwiw, I think Dr. Lee is quite happy not to be a part of this case. His reputation was already suffering severely from other recent trials.

A couple of things:

1. I have to go back on the afternoon trial thread and read JB's cross of Bloise, cuz I actually fell asleep sitting up at my desk during his cross. LOL:floorlaugh:

2. After HHJP dismissed for the day, I noticed KC talking animatedly to CM and at the end of the conversation she pointed at him and said "I Betcha!"

IIRC....was it not JB that stated that "He (HL) had nothing to add to the defense or nothing of use by the DT"?

Anyone else?? I remember it coming back to haunt the DT that CM had proffered in open court that HL once agreed to testify for a case of oranges.....later that came back to bite them.

When Baez tried to stifle answers from Dr. Bloise he shot himself in the foot. It makes him look sneaky. When he asks misleading questions it hurts the DT. Dr. Bloise will be viewed as an excellent State witness in my opinon. When he was finally able to get it out there that it was his opinion that it was human decomposition, a door that Baez himself opened, the jury will be left with this man having said the smell in the car was strong and it was human decomposition.

Caught the tail end of the testimony. That last witness was amazing. Never got ruffled, polite constantly, talked to the jury, thanked them. Great for the state.

Dr Lee has talked publicly about this case ,on the NG show in particular, several times, and each time his comments were at variance with his previous appearance. Even NG, who is usually deferential with him was rolling her eyes at his comments about the extra 17 hairs he found. She could NOT get a straight answer from him and he came off as an expert doofus.

Yes, IMO, Baez blew what was a decent cross.

It was totally awesome and I really think the state should do the same with large poster transcriptions of her own words in closing. I REALLY think they should do that. It is so revealing. No mistaking what those words mean.

Umm, hi. I've read WS on and off for years, (used to read the CourtTV boards) but i didn't register untill the other day when Baez tried to discredit Yuri for "blogging" here. These daily threads really move fast!

I did wonder if Judge Perry had allowed the posts in, would the fact that Baez and the court repeatedly called it "blogging" be a legal technicality later? A message board isn't a blog but I don't know if a court would consider this an issue. I know it's moot since the posts weren't allowed in.

I followed the case back in 2008 and used to watch Nancy Grace so I remember him being on every 5 seconds. What exactly was the deal with Leonard Padilla?
