Oh of course.While I wouldn't give props to anyone with that "killing for fun" attitude, either, there are always two sides. There are people out there who genuinely believe they are fighting for the freedom and safety of all of us, and who are willing to lay down their lives to do so, if necessary. To them, I have no problem giving props.
However, I could be biased, as my son is literally deploying at this very moment.
I just don't automatically fall over myself to thank someone for being in the military. Not that anyone actually does that, I'm just saying it doesn't garner automatic respect from me.
Though my perception of the matter is probably different from an American's. That's fine. I can understand America's pride and it's certainly deserved.
