Too bad he isn't going to federal court. Or the two of them could be sharing a cell.

:floorlaugh:

If you shaved his head bald, they would almost look like brothers. Geez, he has some HUGE eyes.

I dont see really the relevance of adding the charges... the 140s charges are already more than enough to convict him if he is found sane...

Sylvester allowed the addition of 10 attempted first-degree murder charges against Holmes on Thursday,

do they have find 10 more victims? wonder why they dont have these originally? I just hope people are not just added for the benefit of "donations" IMO..

fwiw....the reporter on HLN speculated these charges were perhaps added on because of more victims. Of course, nobody knows for sure because of the gag order.

Gag orders are confusing. Why can't they say WHY these charges were added? They don't have to name the victims. Just what the charges are. :waitasec:

We should get most of the documents soon.

The judge in the Aurora theater-shooting case ordered most of the case's court file unsealed Friday.
In the order, 18th Judicial District Chief Judge William Sylvester said all documents in the file should be made available to the public except for arrest and search warrant affidavits and parts of certain motions. The unsealed documents — which are expected to be largely procedural in nature but will provide new insights into the case — will be opened to the public at 8 a.m. next Friday.

Today????

Here's one

An Aurora police detective "fanned" through the pages of a notebook theater shooting suspect James Holmes mailed to his psychiatrist, according to a new court document unsealed in Holmes' case.
The document, filed by the prosecution on July 27, describes how investigators handled the notebook when they seized it from a mailroom at the University of Colorado four days earlier. According to the filing, police first looked at the package contained the notebook through an X-ray machine, then a bomb squad technician wearing a special suit removed the notebook from its package.
On the outside of the notebook was a Post-It note, according to the filing, which does not specify what the note said.

One document shows prosecutors have obtained text messages that Holmes allegedly sent to a classmate at the University of Colorado. Another document reports that the majority of the DNA analysis being performed in the case is being done by the Federal Bureau of Investigation at a lab in Virginia, not by local authorities.

The suspect in a deadly movie theater attack was barred from the University of Colorado campus for threatening a professor, weeks before he opened fire at a midnight showing of the new Batman movie, prosecutors said in court documents released Friday.

That conflicts with the university's statements that Holmes was denied access to non-public parts of the campus because he had withdrawn from school.

The name of the person has been blacked out. University officials did not immediately return a message seeking comment.

In the documents released Friday, prosecutors say the professor reported the threats, and Holmes was denied access to campus "as a result of these actions."

Jeez started looking through the docs and about 50% is redacted. Hard to read

JH seems to resemble the Guy Fawkes mask that the Occupy protesters were wearing last year.

The defense is going for an insanity plea, and challenges the prosecution's assertion that JH was banned from the non-public parts of the university for making threats against an unnamed professor.

Could that prof be Dr. Fenton herself? That might explain why she considered the doctor-patient relationship terminated?

Seems odd that JH was a productive and talented student, and then he so suddenly veered off into total insanity. Sounds more like the effect of powerful medication, but not necessarily an illegal drug.

Or perhaps it was the other way around. He was taking meds to control his insanity, then stopped, causing the sudden snap

The judge overseeing the Aurora, Colo., theater shooting case has agreed to hold a hearing over defense claims that the government has twice violated a gag order.
In the first motion filed Tuesday, public defenders for James Holmes argue that an updated mugshot of Holmes-without the disheveled orange hair he appeared with the day he was arrested-was improperly leaked to the media by the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Department. It was released on September 20, the same day Holmes had gotten the new haircut.

I wish the defense would focus on using legal maneuvers to help bring clarity to the plethora of unanswered questions in this case and force the State to provide information that I'm sure they are trying to bury...

Silly motions about releasing a post haircut mugshot are a waste of time for a defense team to spend their time when they are already lacking resources to handle this complicated case.

I agree, but they probably have a lot of info we haven't heard yet. The release of the documents last week was a joke. There is no transparency in this case. I find it strange. Makes me wonder if they are trying to protect the school or a drug company.

Mods, can you please make a "preliminary hearing" thread.

I tried to start a new thread for this hearing but it has to be approved by a moderator so no telling when that will be.

This is a major hearing that is expected to go for the week, and some say it is the closest this case will come to an actual trial.

If he's deemed incompetent after this hearing, what happens?
