2024 Hurricane and Tropical Weather

I think most of the water has receded. There are entire neighborhoods where the houses are 100% losses. I can’t remember the name of the subdivisions. I think one was Colonial Oaks, maybe. But the aerial photos are catastrophic. And, they’re expensive, minimum $400k homes too.

I heard there was a levy break or collapse in the Mennonite community but I can’t confirm it. That would explain the flooding in the Bahai Vista Rd & Tuttle Rd area. Cars underwater, the wake of stupid people driving thru pushed water into homes that may have not otherwise flooded.

It’s really sad because so many do not have flood insurance. Homeowners insurance doesn’t cover flooding. Hurricane deductibles are automatically 2%. So their only hope is FEMA which is years of red tape and never enough funds.

People are posting all over looking for something to rent. We didn’t have housing before this, and if there was something, $2,500-$3,000 a month. I suspect this will be the last straw for many. There’s so few options and the county leaders cater to the wealthy developers. JMO

I didn't renew flood this year because it's gotten so expensive. Heck my homeowner's is $10,000 a year.

I saw pics from Sarasota and just felt sick. Prayers for all you guys over there.

This is about the last thing I wanna see right now. I’m in Myrtle Beach and we’ve just been walloped with the rain… in fact, we are STILL seeing rain bands come through every few hours.

Buckle up my friends, I fear we are in for a near constant long and bumpy ride into November. Ay yi yi!

Yup and that sorta looks like a GOM event rather than the Eastern seaboard.

Either way, my Vet-to-Be and her older sister just landed in Granada yesterday. We really don’t need drama Mother Nature!!

I think Mon was OK weather but I can barely remember after 72+ hrs of grey humid blech weather ... every time I try to do anything there is a localized heavy downpour over my head and I am sick of drying out the dog and driving in rain through which I cannot really see. Supposed to be nice tomorrow however all their hourly and minute forecasts are wrong so.....

My son and DIL in Vermont had problems this evening thanks to Debby. They lost power and DIL got a page. They couldn't use the phone without power so drove to a nearby town where they could get a signal. Then they started home, but there were trees down on the way, so they turned around and looped around to get there another way. Again, a tree fallen across the road. Turned around again and drove a third way and were able to get home. Their power came back on after they got home, so that's good.
