'...even the owner of Last Stop, Sam Scarmardo, said he would reconsider the practice in light of Monday’s accident....“It is pretty standard in the industry to let children shoot on the range,”

'Mr. Scarmardo said that the girl’s parents “were very familiar with weapons” and that Mr. Vacca and a tour guide had driven the family to the shooting range from their hotel in Las Vegas.'

' When the girl fired her first shot, a puff of dust rose as the bullet hit the knoll behind the target. Mr. Vacca let out a celebratory “all right,” and then shifted the gun to fully automatic mode. The girl again pulled the trigger, but could not hold the gun straight as bullets came flying out at a rate of 600 rounds per minute.'

'Mr. Vacca “just dropped,” Sheriff Jim McCabe of Mohave County said. Mr. Vacca was airlifted to a hospital in Las Vegas and died 11 hours later.'

Why isn't anyone confronting these people with the case of the 8 year old NY boy? I don;t get it. Everyone involved and in the media is acting like this is the first time such a thing has happened.

According to the review site TripAdvisor, Bullets and Burgers it the #1 review-rated attraction in Las Vegas. (#2 is another 'automatic weapon tourism' style attraction called Battlefield Vegas.)

I was thinking of the "parent speak" that I have used with my children to console them. Phrases like "it will be ok", "it was an accident" , "I know you didn't mean to do that" "It wasnt your fault" etc. How inadequate those phrases would sound in this incidence...

As a 4H shooting instructor, this was SOLELY the fault of the instructor. I have taught children far younger than this to safely handle firearms.

How exactly can a child "safely handle" automatic weapon? She doesn't have enough upper body strength to prevent recoil.
The same thing happened with a little boy who was using an UZI. Only he shot himself in the head instead of his instructor.

Bullets and Burgers is not in Las Vegas.

To begin with, the Uzi (it was actually a MINI Uzi) has a fire selector switch, which changes the rate of fire from automatic (pull the trigger, LOTS of bullets come out) to SEMIautomatic (pull the trigger, ONE bullet comes out). Someone threw the "happy" switch. This was something the instructor should have checked before proceeding. The mini uzi fires a 9mm round. These do not have much kick at all. However one can compensate. The Israel designed Uzi and mini Uzi were SPECIFICALLY designed for use by the IDF (Israeli Defense Force), which makes ALL citizens serve, women as well as men. Thus it was designed to be used by a smaller person.

Instructor was the one who changed the switch. Which you can see from the video. She shot a shot in a semi-automatic mode and instructor decided she was ready for an automatic mode. Uzi might have been designed to use by a smaller person. But obviously not by 8-9 year old. This is the second incident where a child couldn't handle the recoil while using the uzi.
First child killed himself, this child killed the instructor. At some point, enough is enough.

Should have been enough after the first little boy killed himself

hundreds of children died last year riding bikes. It is OBVIOUSLY safer to have them in cars...WHEN WILL WE SEE THE DAMAGE and when is ENOUGH ENOUGH? See what I did there?

Is there anything else you would like to ban because an infinitesimal number of people were harmed doing it?

No, but I would like to draw attention to what seems to be a ban on common sense. Any way we can reverse that?

Parents with no common sense.

And Justin Beiber, please, pretty please :please:

BBM. key words= women, men. Adults in the Israeli army- 18 years+, NOT children!!!

Wrong! A bike is not a weapon designed with the sole purpose to kill. There was no good reason for this girl to handle a weapon, let alone a machine gun designed for an army!!!
Even some NRA members are coming out and saying they would not have let a 9-year-old child shoot an Uzi!

air rifle might be appropriate for a nine year old for target practice with supervision
