Hi Praxis :) I know what you mean; I switch between being hopeful and wanting to throw a brick through my screen.

The recent SY investigation in PDL has come across, IMO, as a big showpiece. Too much activity in the direct view of the media. They really didn't expect to find a thing. All too showy with Redwood strutting about, and dogs being cooled down. Every opportunity for the press.

Is it true that one of the next locations is the land of Tractorman? Is this all a build up for finding something there?

It wouldn't surprise me if SY come to the conclusion that a certain Mr. Savile 'dunnit'. Now that would be an ending.

All jmo.

Ha, exactly :) Been having a good few WTF moments looking at the same pictures and doubting it is anything but optics. The only interesting thing though (and I'm rusty on the case) is that they seem to be looking at the places where there were local sightings of a couple carrying a child. Remember some of the sightings coincided with that strange time K&G were out 'looking' for Madeleine at dawn !? I don't know what it all means but maybe some hope they might be following the lines of the PJ investigation. Tractorman and Burglargang have to be from Fiction Productions!

I wonder if the real investigation was happening somewhere else, away from the media and the public eye. Someplace we don't even know about.

This helps my theory more than I realized, I believe someone in prison all ready talked in March-

A source within Portugal's Polícia Judíciaria (PJ) headquarters in Lisbon says that evidence of a string of crimes, including a sexual predator's activities at coastal resorts in the western Algarve, had in fact been the main driving force behind Portuguese officials deciding to re-open the case. "We met with Andy Redwood and Madeleine's parents last October to inform them of the reasons behind the decision of Portuguese authorities to re-open the case," the police source stressed.

:thud: I very highly doubt that !

Why don't Portuguese police release more information to the media and the public?

All criminal cases in Portugal - and elsewhere in much of Europe - are governed by the law of judicial secrecy.

This means that once a criminal investigation is under way, police cannot reveal anything about that investigation, including any details about potential suspects.

Any leaks could jeopardise a trial.

......... and there can be serious repercussions for breaking the secrecy law.

Cases that are under investigation in Portugal are covered by a judicial secrecy law, which forbids the release of information.

New searches. Anyone worked out where this is on the map? Why aren't the news agencies publishing it's location? They MUST know?!

Also one of you were right about comparing the different satellite imagery from 2007 to now to look at disturbed earth.

Scotland Yard detectives searching for Madeleine McCann are ready to start work on two fresh sites in their hunt for clues.

Specialist search teams from Operation Grange are expected to turn their focus on new areas of land on the outskirts of Praia da Luz tomorrow.

The new digs come after British cops spent seven apparently fruitless days searching wasteland close to where the youngster vanished .

Forensic experts and uniformed officers combed the area with the aid of ground-penetrating radar and satellite imagery.

Sniffer dogs used in the failed hunt for tragic April Jones will again be deployed when attention turns to the new sites on Wednesday.

The areas are half a mile from the Ocean Club complex where Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry were staying when she disappeared in May 2007.

It is believed they were singled out after experts compared satellite images from 2007 and 2014 and noticed changes in the terrain.

One is located opposite a Brazilian-themed restaurant on the outskirts of the resort, where British detectives were spotted last week.

Apparently this is the treatment plant they are searching south of.

And this seems like some disturbed earth. (EDIT: Picture is actually from May 2007, the newest images of the water plant (2011) show that it is in fact a full water plant now with outdoor water area, but are much lower resolution so the police must have newer images we do not have access to)

The reason there isn't more info about the searches - reporters have said over and over that police just aren't talking, period.

Here are a few tidbits from today, although it's impossible to know exactly what it all means. There is talk of an "object" that was dug up - only god knows what that means. The first reporter says it was dug up today, but Sky news says it was dug up last week. Maybe there was more than one object?

I understand police have unearthed "an object" at the new search site this morning, it's been sent away for analysis. #mccann

Cordon at second search site now being removed. I'm told focus will shift to "location 3" this afternoon. #mccann

Important to note that lots of "pieces of evidence" were removed from the first search area last week. #mccann

. . . Sky News has also learned an object recovered during the first searches last week has been sent away for analysis.
A Portuguese police source confirmed the object was being examined at a laboratory.
The source was unable to confirm what it was, but said the results from the laboratory should be known within days.

It comes after British police were back out on the ground this morning to search an area off a road between Praia da Luz and the town of Lagos behind a water treatment plant.
Police sniffer dogs from South Wales Police were out on the land and then search teams formed a line and systematically searched the ground with sticks.

Discussion of 3rd area From BBC (with pictures)
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-27791105

Yellow and white police tape had earlier been stretched around the area and had been guarded by armed local police.
The area included a plot of land with vegetables growing in the middle and a number of dilapidated outbuildings around it.

The BBC's Tom Burridge, in Praia da Luz, said police focused on certain areas inside the cordon - as they did during searches last week.

"It seems that they've mapped out or at least studied the ground beforehand and they have come to certain parts of this site which they believe could be of interest," he said.

The BBC understands the land is owned by a construction company based near the Portuguese capital Lisbon and has been left as scrubland after permission to build on it was turned down.

A source said Portuguese police had searched the land in 2007 - after Madeleine disappeared - and had visited the site "four or five times".

Hi - I'm new to WS but not to following this case.

British news said there were no new clues as a result of the searches completed so far:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-27805322

The story wasn't even mentioned at the start of tonight's 10 o clock news.

I wonder where this goes from here?

Operation Grange update

*Please do not publish links to this page.*

Operation Grange officers working alongside experts in their field from around the UK, the Policia Judicial and the Guarda Nacional Republicana today, Wednesday 11 June completed an eight day period of work searching specific areas of land in Praia da Luz.......

At this time no evidence relating to Madeleine McCann has been identified.

*However it has given us an essential understanding of the activity on and people that have used this piece of land........* ?????

This deployment which was the largest ever undertaken by UK police overseas in a case of this type,.......

This recent work is part of ensuring that all lines of enquiry are progressed in a systematic manner and covers just the one hypothesis that she was killed and buried locally. This is the same as would be done in the UK for a murder or high risk missing person.

Whoa........Wait ............What........??

What happened to the 'imminent' arrests of those, know by name, guilty burglars after searches finished ??

Why all the fuss in extending search for extra 7/8 ? days when they only actually searched 1.

 We all know Monday & Tuesday were holidays.

No evidence of anything ...........
Largest ever deployment of U.K. police .........
Huge waste of money..........
Massive misuse of Police resources...........

BBM: I very much doubt that

So Basically ..................
Entire British Police Force has been utterly humiliated for nothing

Trust me they're most definitely NOT the words I'd use

Cost to date (approx.)
- Official £5 Million
Un-Official £20 Million

(some very sharp eyes are being kept on this)
