They're reporting that the high school and middle school have been cleared, but no official word on injuries, etc... but there will be an update from LE at around 10am Central time. This is the first day students are back to school after Christmas break.

I'm local to this shooting (2 hrs. away). The local KCCI news online just said the reports of the shooting started around 7:45 a.m.. School starts I think 7:50 or 7:55. It was the first day back from Christmas vacation.

7:37am alerted to shooting. Encountered multiple gunshot victims. No danger to the public at this time.
There will be another update later today. Not releasing any other info in the meantime, and will not be answering any questions at this time. Not commenting on number of victims, injuries, etc... Shooter has been identified but will not say anything re: this at this time. Not many people at the school due to the time of the incident.
JMO, and I hate typing this, but the total lack of information and the expressions on the faces of LE, this is very bad. I truly hope that I'm wrong.

Press Conference-The shooter has been identified. Not answering any media questions about how many injured or deceased, etc. Iowa Department of Public will send out more info. about next press conference. There was a media question about a specific victim and LE wouldn't answer about them.

I live in the Des Moines area which is about 40 minutes from Perry. The local news said at least 2 ambulances were sent from Des Moines to the high school. The closest hospitals that would be able to handle any traumatic injuries would be the ones here is Des Moines.

I didn't realise Perry was both a middle school and a highschool. Some of these victims may end up being very young.
