There could have been several symptoms that she may have displayed. But with the paramedics, phoning ahead to the hospital I am sure at this point she suffered from acute symptoms to lead the paramedics to believe that she had a severe head injury with bleeding in the brain.

May I point out that she died of blunt force trauma, this "blunt force" could have been greatly reduced if a helmet was worn. But enough already. She died. Rest in Peace.

I do hope education, public service announcements and "general" common sense may prevail and others may learn "from this tragic" accident.

Wear a helmet, it may save your life and prevent your family from going through what NR family had to go throuh.

I read somewhere that there are reports that Natasha was unsteady on her feet and experiencing dizziness earlier in the day, and that that may be "a" reason or "the" reason for the fall. Obviously some people will not be able to let that part of things go and we'll be hearing about it for a while. It does seem as though the family is gaining lots of strength and comfort from each other, and taking solace in Natasha's helping others with her vital organs.

I read that Vanessa Redgrave sang her daughter the lullaby Edelweiss (from the Sound of Music) before her life support was turned off.

I thought that was so sad and sweet and kind of ironic, edelweiss is a flower that grows on the mountains.

That's the song my sister and I sang to my Dad as he passed away. And I always sing it as a lullaby to my grandbabies. It's a beautiful song.

OMG, this breaks my heart.

dreamerlin, what a loving thing to do for your dad.

Can you imagine how hard it must have been for Vanessa to sing that song to her child?

One verse of the song is "Every morning you greet me." It always gives me the feeling of open arms welcoming one into a bright and sunny new morning, a new existence. It gives me peace as I hope we gave my father the peace to let go and step forward.

It must have been terribly difficult for Vanessa to let her daughter go. It is a gift, however, to be able to be there and hold their hand as their soul gently slips away.

Wow! Thank God! It's wonderful that something good came out of a tragedy.

Dreamerlin, that story about your dad brought tears to my eyes. My mum sang that song to us when we were little. I agree about it being a gift to hold someone's hand as they pass. I remember thinking how lucky I was to hold my mum's hand, that she had brought me into the world and I was there when she left it.

That little girl definitely had an angel watching over her! What a scary story!

I wonder why in this little girl's case it was bleeding at such a different rate??
I hope this story brings Natasha's Richardson's family some comfort.

Click on the link on this page called "The 5 hour scramble to save Natasha Richardson." It was an interesting story.

I really liked Natasha Richardson and am sorry she has died.

Depends on what kind and size of blood vessel was damaged - there are arteries, arterioles, capillaries, venules, and veins.
