Again: Where was Casey going for two years?

It doesn't appear that Casey and Caylee spent many nights with (the imaginary) Zanny prior to Caylee's disappearance. She was not a full-time babysitter, just someone who filled in occasionally when Cindy and George were unavailable to watch Caylee. Cindy may very well have asked for her number or to meet her. We don't know. I think the "Zanny has a key" thing is something Casey told Cindy after Caylee disappeared.

I really have to question this opinion people have of Cindy as being controlling. It appears to me that her family walked all over her. :waitasec:

According to RM, Casey and Caylee were with him 4 to 5 nights a week until they broke up. Even that didn't totally end the intimacy or the sleepovers. According to RM exactly a week before Caylee died, Casey was intimate with him for the last time and Caylee stayed over also.

There are quite a few nights with Zanny just through RM.

However, as another poster said, we don't know though that Cindy didn't ASK to meet Zanny.

She did ask to meet Jeff. Amy asked to meet Casey's mom. Amy asked to see the house she and Casey were leasing months before that. Cindy asked Casey when she and Caylee were coming home from Tampa/Jacksonville.

Casey's answer was always..."Give me one more day."

IMO

No kidding!!!!!
What in the he!! is wrong with them??? :furious:

In all fairness, we don't know that Cindy didn't ASK to meet Zanny.

Casey was a master at postponing and getting "one more day".

I have a serious question for you- Did the Nanny have a phone number for your parents or vice versa in case of an emergency? I always thought it was WAY weird , not that Cindy didn't meet Zanny, but that she never even asked what her phone # , address, or even a general location was in case of an emergency. (especially coming form a woman who seemed more like a mom than a Grandma)

That was my question as well. (post #357) I wish someone would ask KC who Zanny's emergency contact was. What "nanny" doesn't ask for an emergency contact?!

According to Shirley P, Casey always had money. I guess you'd say shame on my kid's grandparents too, because none of them, on either side, ever met anyone who watched my children. It would seem strange to me if they'd wanted to.

While I see your point, and I don’t know how old your children are, IMO, 10, 15 or 20 years ago the times were very different, and I don’t recall the security and “need to know” factors I see today.

My mother knows every phone number of every place; gym, school, daycare, babysitter, friends houses, karate school, where ever. She pick them up frequently, and is on file as an approved "pickeruper". She would not be given the children without these forms on file, and has to sign them out.

The zanny the nanny story is nonsense to me, and mostly everyone else. And its why Cindy would not need her phone number. And, if she did have a number she now claims is Zanny's - she didn't call it? Not possible. She probably would have found out it was to a dry cleaners or bowling alley.

Ah! I never thought of that , but you are right, seemed like a long term Nanny would have been invited to the B-day party.

yep, sure did seem like a long term nanny versus the once or twice a year babysitter..

birthday party - family barbeque - something

there had to be something.. didnt "ZANNY" have kids, seems that they would have been to the house at least once...

but of course - since she didnt exist this is an exercise of BULL CRAP

Casey had stated that Zanny was sitting for her for about 2 yrs or so ..
No one in that family met or spoke to the sitter in the course of 2 yrs???
AND they all lived in the same house ..

*sigh*

That's odd to say the least ..

It is unless you take into account that Casey was a masterful postponer and liar.

Casey always agreed to do whatever was asked of her. She agreed to bring Jeff to dinner. She agreed to meet Amy the next afternoon to look at a house. She told Cindy numerous times she and Caylee would be home tomorrow.

But, poor Casey was a very unlucky girl and bad things kept happening to prevent her from following through. And poor Zanny kept getting in car wrecks or needed to pick up her dog or go to weddings besides having her phone shut off every other week and having to live in a house that was so hard to find Casey couldn't remember where it was.

Remember, Casey is the lady that brazenly marched into Universal with a herd of LE without flinching.

We don't know that Cindy didn't ask for the number or to meet Zanny.

We know Cindy did want to meet Casey's boyfriend and her friends. Amy also wanted to meet Cindy.

Casey told everybody whatever they wanted to hear and lied about why she couldn't come through. She also dangled the "tomorrow" carrot to keep people appeased.

i could see how this situation may have worked for you. i do, however, think the dynamics of the anthony family are probably different from your own. you clearly are/were responsible for your own children, provided for them, etc. casey was...different than that, and her parents knew this. they were too involved in her business not to question anything, so IMO they closed their eyes to a lot of things.

Actually, they didn't know very much about what Casey was doing. They had never met Amy. They didn't know about Tony. I really believe Cindy thought Casey was dating a JH who had a son named Zack.

Most people would not only have had the babysitter's phone number, they would also know the name of their daughter's best friend and the first name of their daughter's boyfriend. Besides not having Zanny's phone number it is evident the Anthony's wouldn't have ever been able to get in touch with Casey while she was at "work".

Casey wasn't too dominated if she could come and go as she pleased and not have to give out a SINGLE real name or phone number. It sounds like Cindy's main requirement was that Casey be there in the morning for Caylee when she had to go to work.

I don't have many answers to the thread topic of " Where was Casey going for two years?"
I think this is important. We know she lied about Zanny the Nanny in very serious ways, including ID theft. There was no regular babysitter other than Cindy or George as far as we know.

The thing that I keep thinking is how NO ONE is invisible. We leave traces of our steps behind with cell phones, gas receipts, people remember seeing us especially with a baby, store employees tend to recognize regular neighborhood customers, Caylee should have had a ton of vaccines and check ups.. what do we know about the presence or absence of ANY routine?

I wonder about Casey's known overall pattern of time management and hope some of you can help fill in the blanks with info in the doc dumps or another reliable source.
It was said in the first post on this thread that Cindy thought Casey worked during the evening somewhere. She indicated in her statements that Casey came by Cindy's workplace once a week or so in the early evening ( around 5 PM) dressed as if for work, with Caylee, for the purpose of Cindy watching Caylee and then taking her home.

---We know that Casey didn't work at Bennigans, Universal, Sports Authority or Disney. This is confirmed in the docs.

---Do we know that she didn't have a legitimate part- time job at all? Or just that she has lied to police about where she worked in the first released interviews?

What else do we know about Casey's daily/ weekly routine with friends, her confirmed trips out of town- was she ever on vacation for a length of time that would dispell questions about employment?

IOW, can we rule out that Casey ever worked for legit. wages after Caylee was born?

If we can't rule it out, could we make a timeline of what we know about Casey's " daily routine" for the two years of Caylee's life?
If one already exists, could someone direct me to it? :)

All I really know aside from the leaving Caylee with Cindy at work part is that she:
Partied with her " new' friends at Fusian
Shopped a lot for cheap clothes through illegal means shortly before her arrest.
Had several short-term flings where she and Caylee moved in or tried to move in with the guys.
Also maintained a separate group of " nice" friends from her HS days.
And that her grandmother thinks she belonged to a fitness club.

I don't know one single thing about Caylee ever being sick and seeing a doctor or going to a pediatrician for the exams and vaccines that little children have. Wouldn't Cindy have known about this for sure? I wonder if Caylee was neglected to the point of not seeing a doctor during 2 important years of her short life.

I don't even know if Casey had her own car, because the white Pontiac with decomp. evidence is said to be Cindy's car.

as lousy as an excuse or defense the nanny fiasco is

its all she has..

its so full of holes BUT its all she has

this case is already sunk for the defense

I just find it weird that no one In the A family knew anything of "zanny nanny". I wonder what the conversations consisted of when "zanny" was mentioned in that house. Sad to think , that all the important questions that should have been asked , were never asked , until it was too late.

In one of the LE interviews, George said that if you said 'Zanny' to Caylee she had no response. As in "Did you see Zanny today?" No reponse or reaction at all from Caylee.

But that she would respond to the names 'Lee' or 'Mallory' being spoken to her.

He also said she had no response to the name 'Zach', JeffH's ImaginarySon.

Yet I remember Cindy saying that Caylee talked about Zanny's puppy all the time.

HEL-LO? You people do live in the same house, right? Oh, that's right, I forgot. They lie.

The thing about this whole family is they ALL lie. They all tell you either what THEY want you to think, or they tell you what they think YOU want to hear. They beat anything I have ever seen. Ever.

Except maybe Shirley. She's seeing the same view that most of us see. I think she may have something with her statement that "maybe Casey hated Cindy more than she loved Casey". I think she's hit the big one there.

I, too, would really like to know what she was doing during this time and where Caylee was being kept. I can't help but think that LE has searched all of the avenues that you mentioned, ie gas accounts, water accounts, electric accounts, in their search for the ZFG that KC claimed had taken Caylee. They can't go to trial and just say that they don't believe she exists. They have to show that they made every reasonable effort to find this person, and ruled out the ones that they did find. This should include, I think, all of the above mentioned avenues. Also, I would think that they have researched any legimit job she may have had through her social security number. If she did have a part-time job that she was going to and getting a paycheck from, then their would be a trail to the government via her SS# because of taxes. If she had a "under-the-table" job that was not on the up & up, then there would be no such trail. I feel confident that LE has done all of this and knows the answer. I just wish they would release it in a doc dump so we could know. However, we may just have to wait for the trial to see everything that they have. I am sure there are some things that they will block from release, and these things will probably be the most damning.

I concur.

Their only defense will be to attack the evidence. That's the only thing they can do. They are going to have to lose this whole ZannyNanny crap.

Of course, this is MOO. FWIW. Which ain't much, but I like to have my say.

I have a MIL very much like Cindy, so I recognize a lot of her behaviors. To outsiders, she seems like a martyr, a saint, a caregiver - but it's a much different story to those who receive that love and care. I honestly believe that Casey made up her fake life because she had to in order to please her mother who was trying to control her life while still doing what she wanted to do.
The most telling moment for me was when Casey was being interviewed at Universal and the cops figured out that she was more terrified of her mother not forgiving her than lying to police. That is a MAJOR sign of an overbearing mother.
Another sign is Cindy's insistence that Casey never spent the night away from home before Casey went missing when many of the witness interviews tell us otherwise. This tells me that Cindy didn't approve of Casey being away from home at night (otherwise she wouldn't feel the need to lie about it to police). Casey was a 22 year old grown woman with a child. She shouldn't have to worry about whether or not her mom approves of her sleeping arrangements. In order to live her life like she wanted, she had to make up lies.

Some will say that Cindy was only looking out for Caylee, but Cindy was NOT Caylee's mom. She should have let Casey make the decisions about what was right for Caylee and what wasn't. This is controlling.

George had to "sneak" away from Cindy to go talk to the cops. This was controlling.
Casey's teacher described her as a "helicopter" parent. That's controlling.
I could go on and on.

Cindy allowed herself to be taken advantage by KC and GA so that they felt they couldn't get by without her. That was her "trump" card. Co-dependence at its best.

My MIL was also so much like Cindy. My sister-in-law was the bad seed and MIL would always blames others for sis's behavior and then ripped sis a new one behind closed doors. It was insane!!:bang::bang:

Thanks, this is helpful for the days before we believe Caylee was murdered and the timeframe afterwards.

I suppose that whatever we may learn about her life prior to the end of Caylee's life when the death of children and methods of killing had already been researched ( and probably planned to some extent) will come out at trial, if at all.

Bold is mine-

It sure is! and confusing (to say the least) for the child forced to grow up that way.
