Does anyone know of a man and woman who went missing in Washington state, together?

Keyes admitted to murdering four people in Washington; he killed two people (independent of each other) sometime during 2005 and 2006, and murdered a couple in Washington between 2001 and 2005. It is unknown if these victims were residents of Washington or if they were vacationing in Washington but resided in another state. It is also possible Keyes abducted them from a nearby state and transported them to Washington.

So, for Washington, we need to focus on missing persons 2005-2006. And a couple in 2001-2005.

The only missing couples in Washington I could find were from the 80s...

Anchorage Police Chief Mark Mew said the people the department interviewed who knew Keyes had no idea he was capable of something like Samantha’s murder.

"The sense I get is hard-working, polite, talented carpenter that did good work and was always a pleasure to hire and to work around."

Keyes mentioned eight murders specifically, but also said vaguely there were more, although he didn't give a number or any details.

He told the U.S. Attorneys that he liked to see people suffer, that it was a side of him no one else had known about.

And he even said he's sorry he didn't kill more people before he was caught.

The other thing I am scratching my head over. He's been successfully killing people and avoiding detection for years. But after he killed Sam, he demands a ransom via text message from Sam's phone. Then used her ATM card to make the withdrawals. If you're trying to avoid detection, that seems like a pretty dumb thing to do.

I can only assume, at some unconscious level he wanted to be caught.

He said few of his earlier cases received media attention until the Currier case, telling investigators that one victim had been found but incorrectly labeled as accidental. The FBI says it does not have a name or location in this case.

Keyes also told authorities he robbed several banks to pay for his travel, using money he made as a general contractor as well.

"There's no indication that he was lying," FBI spokesman Eric Gonzalez said, adding that Keyes' DNA has been put in an FBI database available for other law enforcement agencies to use in their own investigations.

He broke into their home and, in their bedroom, Keyes told police, he bound them with zip ties, forced them into their car and drove them to an abandoned house, where he shot Bill Currier with a gun he brought from Alaska, and then sexually assaulted and strangled Lorraine Currier.

Keyes told investigators he chose the Curriers' home because it had an attached garage, no evidence of children or a dog, and the style of the house clued him in to the probable location of the master bedroom.

I read his Father died in 2002. Not sure if his Mom is living, so maybe she or the siblings will at some point come forward. I wonder who will claim his body?

I have no idea. I will admit I never expected this.

I as well wonder if he did leave any sort of journal, letter, etc., that LE can gather additional information from.

Hopefully, answers for the families of some of the missing.

I think authorities should look to see if Keyes checked any luggage on that flight and if the checked baggage is scanned by X-ray for weapons.

It would be just about impossible to carry a gun onto a commercial flight and unless Keyes was able to stow the gun in his luggage how did he bring the gun with him on the flight?

Authorities: No link seen with serial killer, Celina Cass


Authorities said Monday there appears to be no connection between Celina Cass, the Coos County 11-year-old murdered 17 months ago, and Israel Keyes, a serial killer whose victims included a couple in neighboring Vermont. Keyes was found dead in his Anchorage, Alaska, jail cell Sunday.

Keyes has been implicated in the disappearance and believed murder of an Essex, Vt., couple in early June 2011, nearly two months before Cass was reported missing from her West Stewartstown home and then found a week later submerged in a Connecticut River impoundment.
