I don't understand the process, but today's hearings created another booking date and another mugshot. Maybe because she was in Mobile County Jail?

Well...I hope none of the potential jurors use my words here to decide anything, but her eyes are what I'd call pretty-COLD. :takeoff:

This answers my earlier question.

BRITTNEY WOOD'S BROTHER TO TAKE STAND?
Johnson-Theodoro told reporters she expects Derek Wood, the brother of missing teen Brittney Wood, to take the stand during next month's trial. Derek Wood was also charged in the alleged family sex ring but was granted youthful offender status as part of a deal with the Baldwin County District Attorney's Office. The deal has been a cause for concern for Holland's defense attorney,
"That was part of our issue is whether he had been conveyed any type of proffer or a deal, whether it was expressed or implied," said Johnson-Theodoro.
Heinz denied the existence of any deal with Derek Wood but declined to elaborate about the details of why her office granted him youthful offender status. Heinz would not rule out whether Wood or other family members would be called to testify.

I hope I am not influencing any jurors when I state that a nice, quick guilty finding would be a wonderful start to the Christmas festivities!

Several years ago, I was working with a young woman, (early 20s) whose husband was on the jury of a local murder trial. The trial only lasted a couple of weeks, and the guilty verdict came as no surprise, but the young lady did tell me that her husband had been looking up the defendants grown up children on social media. Just curious, I think, this was a smoking gun type case, so I don't think social media would have had any influence either way, but the husband was a smart enough guy, who appeared to take his responsibility quite seriously, (he didn't tell the wife what he thought until after the verdict), and she didn't seem to have any understanding that he shouldn't have been looking on Facebook-perhaps the jury instructions were not clear enough?

I think the prosecution will be sure to make it clear in this case especially after her fussing about it. What makes me laugh is that she is the one pointing out there are websites etc, she likes the attention IMO! I just hope that if any Jurors do look around online, they don't get caught! So if you are reading here Mr/Mrs Juror..... delete your history and don't go gossiping in court!

I'm tickled to see Brittney's name in Andrew Perez's newly published media profile in Miami.

I still don't get it, though. Such excellence in journalism yet WALA FOX 10 pulled it offline.

Hopefully, the judge will order the jury sequestered, to head off any possible claims of mistrial due to jurors visiting social media sites or even this website.

Hi Steph! Great interview and thank you :)

If possible, could you answer a few questions I have from the article? If not, I understand. TIA

1. The article appears to state as fact Brittney's gun and cellphone battery were found in Donnie's car. Is this speculation or has it been proven these items did indeed belong to Brittney?

2. The article included the detail of where Donnie was shot, behind his ear/head, with the added comment authorites considered it an odd area for a self inflicted gunshot wound. Can you say where this info came from?

I see Chessie was quoted in the article. Hence one of the reasons I don't know what to take as fact.

1. LE seems pretty confident that at one point Brittney did have possession of that gun but it's pure speculation on CW's part about the battery there is no way to prove a battery as that battery had no serial # and the scratches that are it could've been made by anyone.

2. That was the first time Wallace & I had heard that also. And from what I understand it's true. I can only assume it came from LE or DA?

Something to be aware of. Human remains found on old Broadwater Resort site:

A little more information has been released this evening.
http://www.sunherald.com/2014/11/21...ton-found-linked.html?sp=/99/184/201/823/296/
Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said investigators found ID links on the scene that connects the skeletal remains to a missing person case from August.

Exhale.
It is sad for someone but I don't think it can be Brittney based on the new info.
Sure looks a convenient and ideal place to hide stuff, though. 44 miles from Grand Bay. http://goo.gl/maps/U3bkz

Desmond Moore fits that timeline. http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?256049-MS-Desmond-Moore-24-Gautier-30-August-2014

One of the top things that still stand out in my mind is WWH does not want to put BW in Styx river area the night BW went missing.

If one believes, like I do, that BW went to Styx River house with DH that night then it would only make sense WWH knew BW was at the Styx house. Wendy certainly would have had conversation with hubby DH after the visit from the detective and DHS. And, this conversation would have taken place after BW, DH arrived at the Styx house.

To me, this is big. I don't see WWH testifying at her own trial. Then again, I'm not sure how the DA could even bring up the subject (that particular night). Or? Maybe they could bring it up by questioning WWH about the night the detective visited her?

I can only hope.

Thinking of Brittney today.
I suppose the quiet and no news is a blessing in one perspective.
Happy Thanksgiving to all here and to all of Brittney's loved ones.

It's December!

December 8th is Wendy's court date. Any others?

Yikes. There are so pretty bad typos.
" The 4-year-old’s legal guardians are paternal grandparents Denis and Maxwell Harris, and the tot visits Brittney’s father and stepmother, Wallace and Stephanie Hanke is being cared for by her father, Andrew Hamilton, and Brittney’s father and stepmother, Wallace and Stephanie Hanke."

I am not sure what they meant to say. The paternal grandparents have custody but the child's dad and the maternal grandfather & step grandmother also care for her?

Alabama woman seeks dismissal of charges in sex case
By ASSOCIATED PRESS
December 4, 2014
BAY MINETTE, Ala. -- A woman accused of being part of a family sex ring on Alabama's coast is asking a judge to throw out charges just days before her trial. A defense motion argues the indictment against 35-year-old Wendy Wood Holland isn't specific enough. Holland also maintains prosecutors haven't disclosed exactly what evidence they have against her.

A judge is giving prosecutors time to respond before Holland's trial, set to start Monday in Bay Minette.

http://fox10tv.com/2014/12/04/wendy-holland-child-sex-abuse-trial-begins-monday/

"Holland faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child, sodomy first degree, sexual torture and sexual abuse of a child less than 12. Holland’s defense had asked for a change of venue, a hearing to question the credibility of the prosecutions’ key witness and they filed a motion to force the prosecution to clarify their indictment. Circuit Judge, Jody Bishop denied all motions. There will however be a larger jury pool from which to choose."

SBM

"With the second trial of this child sex ring set to start on Monday, it once again leaves the question of what happened to Brittney Wood and how is that investigation into her disappearance going. Prosecutors say they’re fielding phone calls all the time. All leads are followed up on and so far they’re no closer to finding out what happened to her.

Convictions or not, (Baldwin County Assistant District Attorney) Heinz believes solving the mystery of Brittney’s disappearance is the ultimate goal.

“I’m hopeful that there’s an end in sight. I don’t think that this case will ever have closure until we are sure what happened to Brittney,” Heinz said."

Alabama judge refuses to toss charges in family sex case

BAY MINETTE | A Baldwin County judge refused Thursday to dismiss charges against a woman accused of being part of a family sex ring on Alabama's coast, setting the stage for her trial next week.

The decision by Circuit Judge Jody Bishop apparently cleared the way for jury selection to begin Monday (Dec 8) for Wendy Wood Holland, 35.

The judge refused to postpone the case in a separate order.

Bishop rejected defense arguments that included claims the accusations were too vague.

Court records show prosecution witnesses could include Holland's brother-in-law Dustin Kent and nephew Derek Wood, who pleaded guilty after being accused of being part of a group of relatives and friends who used children — including family members — for sex.

Other potential witnesses include investigators, child welfare workers, and friends of the alleged victim, documents show.
