Omg I can't take a walk bc it's raining hard, I can't cuss bc it's making me go broke, I can't have a drink bc I don't keep alcohol in my house, I can't smoke a ciggie bc well I think it's yucky & I don't smoke lol, so what can I do? When I hear an official spokesperson speak like that, I could honestly punch a hole in my wall...and that's just awful sounding yuck I'd never do that...but it's infuriating!

For someone who is a spokesperson, the guy sure isn't very well-spoken. I couldn't make sense of it all. Is he suggesting that someone is hurting the family on purpose by making false allegations against Chessie's brother and brother-in-law? Is this a suggestion that Donnie's wife is making up stories to get back at Brittney's family for comments made about Donnie? WTH is going on?

So he's from Baldwin County, working with BW's family in Mobile County, BW could be anywhere in either of these counties, and he doesn't get the connection? That's exactly what it sounds like to me, which seriously tempts me to hop a flight to Mobile and ask him in person where he gets off talking like that? I don't get it. Maybe it's just how the media worded it? Maybe? I'd like to hear the whole conversation on tv instead of reading it. Maybe I'd look at his statement differently?

The only MSM report I've seen stating DH killed himself with a shotgun is the transcript from the JVM show that was posted in the previous thread. We all know JVM often sensationalizes a situation. Zeaux, can you can confirm this was the weapon used?

IMO, families of missing persons don't always choose the best spokesperson, and I definitely think this is the case with the Wood family. Sadly, they may not have anyone else to speak on their behalf.

I wouldn't classify Chaplain Tony Dickey as a family spokesperson. He's been helping them, and he speaks to the media. He hasn't been hired as a spokesperson.

Mobile LE is technically the department searching for Brittney. The poster earlier described their typical approach to missing adult drug users, and that is pretty much what has been said in this case. But they claim to be looking for her. Baldwin County is in charge of the sex abuse investigation, and to the extent that her disappearance may be related to their case, they will also look for her.

DH Suicide
I believe the reference on HLN to a shotgun being used was a mistake. It was a handgun. I don't know guns, but I believe it was a 25 (is that even a type of gun?)

She hears LE say they think BW is hiding, and she clings to it. She wants her daughter to be safe. She did know about the investigation of DH on sex abuse charges, but she must not have believed it was true. I really don't know how she formulated her opinions.

My Thoughts
I hope that LE is withholding information due to the highly unusual circumstances of the case. They have multiple family members involved in a slew of crimes, so they have to figure everything out and learn who can be trusted. I know there are people considered suspects who are not family members. As long as LE is gathering evidence and until they know for certain, they aren't going to publicly accuse anyone of involvement in BW's disappearance. Likewise, the chaplain isn't going to accuse either. They met with LE today, so they have a little more understanding of what's going on.

We've speculated if it was actually a rifle instead of shotgun. I was one of the people that honestly didn't know the difference, which in the past week has made me a laughing joke in my family.

Few things from the Interview with Chessie Wood tonight.

We just miss her and want her to come home (CW).

She walked out of my yard carrying a blue bag, going to a friends house.

Chaplain spokesperson, states the investigation into the Uncles arrest is a completely separate investigation, has nothing to do with Brittany's missing case. The comment on people "traumatizing the family" was regarding social media comments. Scratching my head, as it seemed out of context, but I think he was answering a reporters question.

Not a very informative interview IMO, but it got her name out there. That's always a good thing.

Just my two cents into local LE. I do not know anything about Baldwin County LE, but I did have family member that made a report to Mobile LE, concerning harrasment from a former boyfriend. Lets just say her experience with Mobile LE was not a positive experience and they did not act professionaly at all, IMO. Later, I talked to a long time attorney in Mobile about the incedent, when I was helping him and his wife look for a home. He told me that a lot of the Mobile LE are mostly poorly educated, minimum wage employees, barely out of the criminal life themselves. I am sure they are not all like that though. From my own experience here in MS, it seems most law enforcement in the South have very low pay, for oftentimes a very dangerous and stressful job. Our country is certainly screwed up on who gets paid what..

BBM If it's a .25 then it's a small, weak gun, which is probably why his suicide was so botched. If it was a .25 then I believe it was a suicide, not a homicide and maybe this is why police aren't investigating it any further. Surely no one would try to kill someone else using one.

The chaplain seems like a nice guy and I'm glad he's there to support BW's family. And he probably DOES know more than us about the investigation. It just kind of bothers me that he is so definitively dividing the separate incidents and seemingly writing them off as unrelated. Sorry, JMO.
