In the 3 Men and a Mystery podcast, it will be interesting to hear where they think J.B. Beasley and Tracie Hawlett ended up running into their killer. I cannot figure it out.

I guess it could be as simple as they stopped to ask directions and they allowed the guy to get into the backseat to direct them to the location or street they were looking for. Or maybe they stopped at Walmart and the guy approached them in the parking lot?

If the Haunting Evidence show pictures are real of Tracie Hawlett's white shoes, I have not been able to duplicate that mud pattern. I was so curious about the mud in the case that I looked at videos and pictures and have not seen anything like it. There are so many types of mud. My conclusion is not scientific, but the mud on Tracie Hawlett's white shoes looks like splash mud, like water with debris in it.

At the rest stop on 231, there is supposedly a place for campers to drain dirty water. I think that is the one question I would like to see answered in this case: Where did J.B. Beasley and Tracie Hawlett come into contact with their killer?

I agree, it appears he used some kind of ruse to get into the car or simply was able to use the gun to gain control of the victims. My guess is that when he got the victims to a remote location where he forced the first victim into the trunk while he raped the second victim. He then forced the second victim into the trunk, then shot both of them. I believe he then moved the car to the location where it was found. My guess is his auto was nearby and this determined the location where he left the car.

maybe you mean the guy on there who called himself Veritas? { I was on the forum also.} he told us he knew JB. he said he had been questioned and released by local LE. He also knew Johnny Barrentine.

On going LE investigations never give out all the details. They owe nothing to sleuthing groups like our own or even the interested public. As they pointed out, this was not a cold investigation, this was an open investigation. I don't find it especially concerning to see anyone walking the streets late at night, especially someone I've seen before. I doubt seriously that police or otherwise thought anything nefarious was about if they had seen him walking as no one knew anything about the crime at that time.

as someone who has lived in the neighborhood since 1990 we see the occasional person walking late at night but its not "busy". nothing really open at night except on hwy 231.

Yes, I made mention of it as well way back on the first thread when I was photographing locations from the case and posting pictures. I can't remember if it was included in the pictures I posted.

Hypothetically, if another person were involved, such as driving the alleged perp’s vehicle, would this be the time a potential plea bargain could go on the table, or would that take place after a grand jury process? Just wondering, knowing Alabama has the death penalty laws.

I would say that if, as it appears CM was the rapist, no,unless he went on to claim the other person was the shooter. if there was a second person whowanted to make a deal I imagine the DA would love to talk to him.

Thanks. I need to go back and read threads to refresh my memories of this case. As far as I recall, no murder weapon was found or that information wasn’t released. I have no local connections to the girls or arrested man, but I grew up in that neck of the woods (another town) and remember the shock in the area, with increased safety talks/lectures from my parents.

Strangely, my husband and I were on a trip to Florida listening to the crawlspace podcast introducing the 3 men and a mystery story as we were driving through Birmingham. He usually doesn't get into these stories all that much but by the time we had driven south of Montgomery and found ourselves on 231, we had to stop to see the area for ourselves. Yes, we drove around Ozark, took pictures, drove Herring back and forth, saw the confusing signs, the store. Anyway, we went on into Florida and were settling in for the evening when the news broke that an arrest had been made. Strangest feeling I've ever had. We were the only people around the memorial on Herring taking photos just hours prior...

Something doesn’t seem right. Almost twenty year old case of a double homicide with rape involved and the news reports that the prime suspect gets to walk into the courthouse in a suit with NO visible restraint mechanisms whatsoever being only escorted by the sheriff and deputies like he was taking a casual stroll to a business meeting.

My buddy is in Dale County pending misdemeanor charges and was shackled to other inmates while wearing the issued jumpsuit when he went to court appearances. We weren’t even allowed to give him decent clothes for his appearances.

Any thoughts on this?
