When Judge Jones asked Stallworth if he had any questions, he asked why he was being charged with murder. Jones told him he’ll learn more at a preliminary hearing, where state will show probable cause.

Brown will have public defenders represent her. They were previously appointed to her on unrelated matters.
Stallworth told Jones he’ll hire his own attorney. He’ll return to court Nov 4 to let the judge know who his attorney is.

Both defendants were very white during the hearing. Judge Jones had to ask Brown to speak up so the court reporter could hear her.

Yes. Hear Ocean & Southern ~ & so many many more of us. Hear us all!
I'll never understand people who abduct and kill children. Even if the ultimate goal was sexually motivated (sex trafficking, child *advertiser censored*, etc) these people KNEW the amount of law enforcement that would get involved because they both had priors that were similar to this. They knew the amount of heat that would be on them if they abducted a child, and they still did it. I know that they had to realize that there was a slim to zero chance they were going to get away with their ultimate goal. Instead of leaving the child at a hospital or somewhere safe they decided to kill her?! It's just so sad and so unnecessary. These two people were fools.
Does anyone know if capital murder is different than just homicide or murder in the first degree?

Suspects in Kamille McKinney killing make first court appearance
[...]

Patrick Stallworth, the man charged with capital murder in Kamille McKinney killing, told the judge, “I don’t understand how I’m being charged with the murder of this child.”

Both Stallworth and Derick Brown, the woman charged in the child's death, are being held in jail without bond.

According to court documents, little Kamille died on Oct. 12 of asphyxiation.

"There is no silver lining in the Cupcake tragedy," Frank Barefield, chairman of the organization's board, said in a statement. "However, we are deeply moved by the public's generosity during the investigation of her kidnapping. We hope the memory of Cupcake is somehow kept alive not only in our community, but also in the generosity of these donors."

MOD - asphyxiation TOD 10/12/19
It was a recovery mission from the start unfortunately

Just to be clear, the MOD (Manner of Death) would be “Homicide”.

The COD (Cause of Death) would be “asphyxiation by suffocation”.

The TOD (Time of Death) is presumably unknown.
