CITIZEN ACCESS PORTAL

Property tax site for Jefferson County. From there you can enter the address and get the last known owner and some valuation information. Not sure what that's worth but things are pretty quiet here so trying to break the silence. Last name of owner hasn't changed with history from 2013-present. Taxes are currently delinquent it appears. Were due 10/1/19 and delinquent 12/31/19. Will soon have a tax lien and be sold at public auction whenever the next tax sale is scheduled.
One question I had when I looked up the property was the (R/S) listed by the property owner's name? Does anyone know the meaning of this?
I am guessing maybe residence/secondary? Rental?

Just curious....

ETA: Residential/Senior?

there are no shortage of beer cans there, but they just look like beer cans to me. nothing in the pictures screams illegal drug use or manufacture. imo

Two things that caught my eye was someone seems to have a preference for Bud Light and it appears at one point someone was using this tipped over bin to dispose/collect the cans.

Does not necessarily scream party house or party house was discovered and home owner or someone was cleaning yard of debris. Just seemed like any random squatter/party goer would not take the time to put cans in a bin.

Does anyone have any idea what the hold up is for an arrest in the case? Kidnapping, tampering with evidence, abuse of corpse? Something? Anything?
How is it they had a handle on things early on and yet we are how many weeks out and still no arrest?

Holding out hope they still have a handle. I think maybe LE/DA to wait on the toxicology results, maybe this will verify someone's story or tip if someone has talked? I don't know but will be here until solved.

Just can't imagine how tortuous it was for this family to spend Christmas and New Year's not even knowing where their loved one was.

I get why they would wait on toxicology for any murder charges. But certainly they should know by now and have other evidence (cell phone records, surveillance, etc) on how PH ended up buried in the back of that house and who buried her.
Someone should be in custody by now. Moo

I think LE is waiting for a COD before deciding on charges. There is the possibility that no COD can be determined. As an example, drugs could be present in a body but not to the degree to easily prove they caused death. This could make LE to decide if its worth trying to make a case against someone or to just drop everything out compassion towards the family. I don't know whether in Alabama if this information can be kept secret. jmo

But she was buried! That’s abuse of a corpse!

ETA:Sorry I misplaced my patience hat today.

Agree this case is beyond frustrating and I have no respect for any media anymore. I am not so sure about having everyone's cell phone records....sometimes that takes longer than expected.

True, definitely nothing relating to manufacturing. I only looked into it because of the one can with the hole in it. Just sort of looked odd but possibly caused by fire or just a hole, nothing more. Just a thought. I also know they Hueytown isn't just known for being the connoisseur capital of Bud Light, they like the illegal stuff too.

Just curious....

If it says Class 2 it’s non-homestead. None of those letters indicate rental.

Thank you! It is a sad day when one (me) starts sleuthing property tax codes!

I was just curios if it could mean rental or rent subsidized etc.

Mainly to see if this house was recently posted for rent. It would seem pretty stupid if one buried a body on their own property or a property they were connected to but we have seen this in many, many cases.

ETA: My comments seems stupid now....most bodies are buried on properties they are familiar with. I am just trying to say what is the degree of separation from perp to house?

?? Right of Survivorship? Taking this a step further, if you search the same name in the public records, there is another deed to a possible sibling (same last name as 215 owner) - however the address reflected in the later deed is Love Street. Maybe the trail to or knowledge of an empty house on Chapel Drive began behind someone's home on Love Street. Thinking out loud. ALL MOO.

maybe there is a list somewhere of real estate that are behind on taxes and the ideal for location simply came from that list. my county runs a list in local news paper.

Dbm - confused this AL case with TX case.

ETA: add applicable AL law

The law says that any felony charge must be indicted by a Grand Jury before it can be tried. At some point after any felony charge is brought, it will be presented to a Grand Jury. An arrest is not a prerequisite to the Grand Jury’s consideration of a matter. Often cases are handled as “present only” cases in matters where an arrest has not been made. ^^bbm

Highly unlikely. Taxes aren't delinquent in AL until January 1st of each year. [corrected] ... here's a link, but don't see this address listed in JeffCo.

All of this (what you said) reminds me of the Riley Crossman case in WV. Practically nothing in the Eastern Panhandle of WV can be kept a secret. :(
