Some of Barboursville is in Orange County, and some is in Greene County. The Greene County area should probably be part of Ruckersville but it isn't.

(I used to live there - the two county thing was a PITA.)
He definitely holds a grudge against Greene County. Iirc, LE has had a few scandals in Greene Co, correct? It would be just like RAT to bury the girls right on someone's property. Someone he either envies or despises. I still think a search should be done in the wooded areas in close proximity to Shipman and the Murphy home.

Am wondering if he has a habitual dumping ground in Orange County/Green County (next to each other). Ruckersville is where he met Samantha Clarke at the Northside Restaurant. It is a straight shot up 29N from Madison Heights to Lovingston to Charlottesville to Ruckersville to Orange. He used to live up there when Samantha Clarke went missing.

Correction: Orange is off 29 to the East, but very close to it.

I do not think of RAT as stupid. Rather, he is remarkably sly. He might not mention any town anywhere near his dumping ground.

So...he lived in Orange. Did not get convicted for Samantha Clarke. He moves away, to Lovingston (has a son, probably did not want to move too far). During the Murphy questioning, he mentions Orange County, Barboursville, and Madison Heights. My gut says that the body/bodies would not be in any of those three specific locations -- but, they might be between Lovingston and Orange County, not too far off Route 29.

On land on the County lines...might be a good place to look for secluded places with brambles and Mosquitos and mud.

There is a quarry close to one of the addresses listed for him in Ruckersville. Interestingly, the location where Morgan Harrington's body was found is also very close to a quarry.

But to me that would mean AM was in the car if he disposed of her in Orange/Cville. There were no signs of that.

Good point. How hard would it be to hide it? Would there still be signs in the car if the remains were fully wrapped in plastic (shower curtain, garbage bags, etc.)?

He would mostly likely take 29 to 64 and leave 64 at the 136 exit onto i I think highway 15.

Samantha lived off 522.

If Alexis was still alive when he put her in the her car , it wouldnt show evidence . Her nose ring and fingernail were inbeded in his carpet but the hair and blood where on the shirt he was wearing.

It was mentioned by the defence that the grass and dirt was not consistent with the grass/dirt behind his house in his closing .
The made me pretty sure he took her somewhere else to get that dirt under there and didnt just drive to carmike. Everyone was looking for that car in lovinston, I dont think it was there at his camper . His phone goes dead and doesnt come back on until in my opinion he got home the next morning...without the car.

I never heard how much gas she had gotten but my daughters altima can go forever on 10 bucks.

I also think that GPS info that the fbi most likely has, combined with his phone pings then and now might reveal some interesting data.
I dont think RAT is done in court.

Here is the house Address.

10506 Thomas Nelson Hwy, lovingston.

When Samantha went missing he was said to be living @Eheart's Corner trailer park on Ridge Road in Orange County.

In 2002 he burnt a dodge van up. I am thinking I should look up crime reports for dodge vans around that time, as he probably was burning some kind of evidence.

Also Bars seem to draw his attention. So as far as ruckersville ,and Orange and culpepper go ,he would know the location of those bars probably pretty well.

On 9/15/ 2011 A truck was reported stolen ,on 9/22/2011 that truck was found ,I am not sure if anyone was ever charged with this or whatever ,however it was interesting to note this is Randy Taylor residence county currently and that Lauren Smith was reported missing the day before this accident occurred.

.Police believe Smith has a set of unclaimed car tags in her possession that once were on her brother's old vehicle. That license plate is thought to read XBW2666. Garrett also thinks Smith, an avid online gamer, was possibly looking to buy a vehicle off Craigslist.

Well, now that is very interesting. When we heard that RAT was seen near the road to Crabtree Falls and then in Massey Mills, in a mud covered vehicle, we mapped out the drives from Lovingston to Roseland (where son lived.) We found there was no reason to be in Crabtree Falls on the way to Roseland. Searches were conducted somewhere in that general vicinity.

Other folks discussed the James River Park area. Based on where the two trucks, one reported stolen the day before LS went missing, were found...well, that looks very close to James River Park.

I mapped out the area with Lovingston, Massey Mills, Roseland, Crabtree Falls and then I added Rt 626. From Lovingston, if he went right, he'd head toward the areas that we were originally looking at. If he went left, look where he ends up...rt 626. This could very well be significant.

Another thing to think about is the name of the road where the accident occurred and where the trucks were abandoned. "Nelson County Sheriff David Brooks confirmed the accident around 6:30am along Cabell Road near Warminster and Fishpond Road."

I believe names mean a lot to RAT. It may mean nothing but it sure is interesting... Cabell is a well known name in the area and it is the last name of a person who filed Curse & Abuse and Assault & Battery charges against RAT, in 2004.

That surname also came up a time or two, with sleuths, in the MH disappearance and death.

I know. Crazy. Read about the train accident in 1978 if you get a chance, it was interesting but not related to the case.

Also great work on the mapping. Have you found any afton addresses or charges ? Sightings or connections?
On Afton, I haven't found any but I often wonder if he went to those field parties on the Anchorage Farm and if he ever hung out on Red Hill Rd/North Garden, in Albemarle. It seems like the type of place one might find him.

Does anyone know if there is a map or list of locations that LE and/or the FBI searched already?

The closest I have in a timeline, however I know alot of searchers took place and I am sure the locations of some of these places have been kept secret.

*I've tried to link the articles pertaining to search info, as well as any relating quotes. Next step would be to highlight / condense the info. (It appears the main locations searched that are divulged via MSM include Rt 29, RAT's property, near the theater, etc.)

"Investigators have expanded the search radius around Lovingston by 30 miles. The Nelson County Sheriff's Office, the FBI and the Virginia State Police are all involved in the case. They're looking for more surveillance video. The sheriff says they're focusing on the Route 29 area with around 50 people on the ground and a chopper in the air.

"The search for a missing Nelson County teenager is shifting from her hometown to Albemarle County.

Investigators are at the Carmike 6 theater in Albemarle County Wednesday, after a tip led them to the abandoned car of Alexis Murphy, who has been missing since Saturday. "

(omg maybe she's closer to the theater than I originally thought)
"A tip led police and FBI to the Carmike 6 parking lot in Albemarle County Tuesday night, where they found Murphy's abandoned Nissan Maxima.

After FBI agents went door to door through Albemarle Square Shopping Center Wednesday, investigators are scanning through hours of surveillance video from businesses in the area. ACAC gym has several cameras pointed at the parking lot just down the hill from Carmike 6.

Tuesday night a police K-9 traced a scent from the vehicle to Arden Place Apartments in Charlottesville.

Randy Walls, who lives next door, says he saw Murphy's car parked at the movie theater on Monday around 10 a.m., while taking a walk.

"It marked me as strange because normally there's not a lot of cars, you know, it's not the norm - not normal," Walls said.

The sheriff says the focus of the investigation Wednesday shifts from a ground search in Nelson to gathering information and video in Albemarle."

Friday Developments in Search for Alexis Murphy

"Investigators moved quickly to an area north of Lovingston Friday night to conduct a search in the case of Alexis Murphy, a missing 17-year-old from Nelson County."
***********************************************

"Friday night around 8 p.m., police searched the area of Cannery Loop and Eades Lane for at least the second time. This time they brought an army of men and K-9 units to the wooded section of the area.

We learned from neighbors Friday that police were searching their homes and the area nearby in search of Alexis' cellphone. Neighbors who live on Cannery Loop say police also searched their yards and houses Monday. They say the FBI told them the last ping on Alexis' phone was closest to their street.

Neighbors say everything from sheds to creek banks to refrigerators were searched and that they are happy to help if this can bring Alexis back home because her disappearance is affecting the whole community. "

***********************************************

"We also learned that the Virginia Department of Transportation unfortunately can't offer much help in the search. Though VDOT has a network of cameras, they can't be used to track Alexis' car between Lovingston and Albemarle County.

The cameras are monitored in Augusta County, but those cameras are live-looks only and none of the feeds are recorded. That means police cannot go back and piece Alexis' trail together by using stored images."

"Investigators were actively searching in the Cannery Loop area Sunday night. The FBI completely blocked off a property right off of Route 29 in Lovingston. Two agents sat in a car blocking the driveway of that property near Cannery Loop. Behind that car were a number of large unmarked vehicles and additional FBI agents. "

***********************************************

"FBI, state police, and Department of Corrections dog teams are trying to track down Alexis or clues to her disappearance at Taylor's home. K-9 teams are scouring the ground and sniffing along Route 29 stretching in front of the home and investigators took ATVs into the rugged terrain surrounding the property Wednesday."

Search For Alexis Murphy Day 12

"Thursday, after two weeks of searching, investigators made the decision to move their efforts out of Nelson County. They're now basing their operations out of the FBI's Albemarle County office on Pantops. The FBI will not tell us why they pulled out of Nelson County."

***********************************************

"The FBI has confirmed that several cellphones have been recovered. There is no indication of how many phones or how they came into their possession. They are working to determine if one of them belongs to Alexis Murphy. There is no indication if anything else from Alexis was found. The FBI is unclear about when or where any active searches will resume, but still considers the search a rescue mission and not a recovery mission."

"Dozens of search and rescue teams from across Virginia combed the woods and waterways of Nelson County Saturday for any trace of missing teen Alexis Murphy."
***********************************************

""We're about 28 days in. It really has been non-stop since the onset of this investigation," Mays said."

***********************************************

"Saturday, more than 50 search and rescue personnel from around the commonwealth scanned about 10 locations in Nelson County. Ground teams used dogs to sift through wooded areas along Route 29 near Lovingston while dive teams searched the Rockfish River - all looking for anything that could lead them to the missing 17-year-old.

"These areas are heavily wooded and vegetated areas with very steep grades and drop-offs and areas we just want to clear," Mays said.

Investigators believe these are spots Taylor may have traveled through in the days after Alexis disappeared.

"These are some of the secondary roads that someone, if they were trying to fly under the radar so to speak, would travel these areas just to avoid contact with other people and law enforcement," Mays said."

Investigators Call on Hunters to Aid in Search for Alexis Murphy
http://www.nbc29.com/story/23721087/investigators-call-on-hunters-to-aid-in-search-for-alexis-murphy

"The search for Alexis Murphy in Nelson County is very active two and a half months after her disappearance. Now, the Sheriff's Office is asking hunters across central Virginia to stay vigilant for any clues that could help them find the missing teen."

***********************************************

"Hunting season draws a large number of people into heavily wooded areas around Nelson County. Investigators hope they can use the eyes and knowledge of hunters who know the land best to scan through unsearched ground.

"There's no way we could search the entire county. It would be a daunting task," said lead investigator Billy Mays, of the Nelson County Sheriff's Office.

Mays is calling on hunters to help search for 17-year-old Alexis Murphy.

"With the hunting season approaching and the amount of hunters that are going to be out, they will be pretty much scouring the entire county, so we'd like to utilize that," said Mays.

Several organized search groups have scanned wooded areas and rivers along Route 29 since Murphy vanished on August 3. Two and a half months later, there's still no sign of the Nelson County teen.

"We're not really asking them to search, we're just asking them to be aware that this case is ongoing and we still haven't found Alexis Murphy," said Mays.

Authorities are hoping to revive their efforts and expand the search with thousands of bear and deer hunters expected to be out and about.

"Everybody hunts you know. You have a lot of people in this county that hunts. You have a lot of people from Waynesboro around that comes into the county that hunts," said Forrest Wood, who owns Shady's Place, a store along Route 29 in Lovingston. "

Hundreds of Volunteers Continue the Search for Alexis Murphy

"NELSON COUNTY -
Hundreds of people from an effort that started in Lynchburg poured into Nelson County Sunday to help search for Alexis Murphy. Crews making up the first all-volunteer search scanned a wooded area along Route 29, including the property where abduction suspect Randy Taylor lived.

The search on the site where Taylor's trailer sat before it was removed by FBI was delayed for about an hour, after a confrontation stemmed from what the property owner initially saw as a trespassing issue. The back-and-forth ended through a conversation started by Murphy's mother, and a shared desire to bring Alexis home."
***********************************************

"Crews walked along Route 29, starting at the Liberty gas station in Lovingston, the last place Murphy was seen on August 3. “[We’re] re-walking the area that's already been searched just to make sure we didn't miss anything,” said Alexis’ great-aunt Trina Murphy."

"nvestigators are searching the property around Randy Allen Taylor's home Monday afternoon. Taylor is charged with the abduction and murder of Alexis Murphy.

Crews are searching the yard outside of Taylor's home off Route 29 in Lovingston. There are also about seven cars parked outside and investigators are on scene. A neighbor tells NBC29 that investigators were also on scene at Taylor’s home three times last week.

"I could see them on the ATV riding down and forth up in the mountains," said Larry Spencer. "I could see a couple dogs searching. I could see them moving around the house and back up in the mountains."

There were also dogs on the property Monday. Alexis Murphy's family says that investigators are doing a grid search and that it was not prompted by any new information in the case."

I'm not sure but with what google gave me, it looks like the boonies. Some have ways of having a home or mobile on it. Very large properties, 5 acres or way more. jmo

What else? The road numbers didn't come up as highways, must be rural routes or something. Boonies. West of Charlottesvile. Thanks.
