I would think that the prosecution would want his version of events if he changed his plea to guilty of murder. Though as the life sentence is mandatory and for a fixed term of 15 yrs there is nothing legally for him to gain by doing that.
He is more likely to plead guilty to manslaughter but I think the prosecution would need him to convince them of his version of events for them to agree to not continue to prosecute on the murder charges.

I wonder if this possible new improved version of events would be half as inventive as the old "innocent" version (with holes).
Thanks alioop for your reply here. I too, have been wondering about this.

Good luck with that Strangeworld! Luckily there's been 10's of 1,000s of posts removed & we'd be close on 100 threads...otherwise you'd be still reading until this time next year :D

Thank goodness for you (and the other mods), Marly! I was going to skim the posts, but I've been sucked in already. The emotion was strong even from the early days.

Who would have thought when we all joined this thread at different times that Allison, her girls and her family would engulf our lives so much.

I just had to post alicat's post from the 29/4/12 - very eery to read again!

I've been searching through some old news footage and found this one from 2012 before Allison was found. I'm still searching for other news footage in relation to the girls and the debriefing comment.

Just reading the article.
Never been able to grasp the phone stuff.

Why ???
Did Allisons phone my friends app identify that 150 mtr radius and blue dot the rear of 61 Buscombe Road when Kellie Thompson phoned at 1.09pm on the 20th. Yet it had shown out of range when other officers had rung.

I did not realise or had forgotten this had occurred so early.

I have no idea about this really but it just seems the phone had to be there silenced or I think possum said you can work them remotely.

The triangulation to Pullenvale, Kenmore and Brookfield according to article was about the 25th. The open house may be rather significant with hindsight.

I just cannot grasp why it worked that one and only time.

my opinion is, that Toni rang Gerard from that conference because she had spent a few delicious hours thinking she had won. No Alison !!... she rang him to purr and snuffle...imagine her shock when he tells her, very sharply, ( as he knows that Toni ringing him is now a big mistake ) is missing. It must have thrown her right off her perch... a missing wife is just so much more of a problem than an unwanted one, suddenly its so much MORE about Alison. She said she felt sick, and I bet she did, in spades. She went straight home and closed the blinds....

One of the big myths that Gerard was desperate to nail down to anyone.. to the counselor, and, as it happens, to the first responding police in answer to his 000 call, was the fiction that the bonking with Toni had ended...

He spins this yarn to Carmel, the counselor. and again to the Sargeants, Curtiss and Jackson... but he does a little nip and tuck, an extra embellishment to the story that morning.. he admits to ' a bit of trouble'... but wants Olivia and Dad out of the room, as, he puts it ' the family don't know about it'... but yes, he did have an extra bit on the side but its ended... a double whammy.

Because.. it hadn't ended... and
of course Dad and Olivia knew about it.. Toni was fired from the franchise in front of all the staff, Elaine was the receptionist, Bwana was working for him .. everyone knew about it. That's about 20mins into his performance for the two Sargeants... why would he want the police to think that no one knew about it?? Was he about to come clean about the continuation of it?? or was trying to set some sort of stage whereby the police think that only he and Alison know about it?? or to discount Toni's need to be named??

Oh my! I have not seen this post. It makes my hair stand on end.
Allison went missing 19 April 2012 and was found 10 days later.

I can personally vouch for eerie feelings such as this. Am not psychic or anything like that. It was a cold eerie feeling that passed right through my being at a place which apparently had a history of someone gone missing in the vicinity. It had nothing to do with this matter at hand.

If he did decide to plead guilty to manslaughter; and needed to provide a convincing story to the prosecution, it could need quite a bit of massaging by his defence team ....... due to witness statements already in hand!

The opinions of many of us on here seem to point to the fact that the charging of an accomplice could still be in the pipeline.

the nice thing is,, he doesn't get to decide if he pleads guilty to manslaughter... that's a decision for the crown , should the proposition be put to them... I cant see it happening , not after all this time... he would have got bail if there was any possibility of an accidental factor....

he can plead guilty to murder though.. and interfering with the corpse.. that option is available to him at any time...

Or simply trying to occupy the nice policepeoples' attention, giving Accomplices a chance to finish doing Other Things...

I remember Alicat's post - I think it was posted about a day or maybe two BEFORE Allison's body was found.

Definitely spooky...! Maybe we should have arranged for Alicat to have a stroll round the back of the BC house to see if she could get any vibes as to where Allison's iPhone may have been?

Speaking of which, there has been a huge amount of earthworks, including cutting and filling with bulldozers etc, on the block between the BC house and the child care centre. I don't know what's going in there - possibly car parking, or a playground. Or even a new building. But if Allison's iPhone was somewhere in that area, I wonder if the police asked the earthmoving company to keep an eye out for it? There'd certainly be no chance of finding it now, though - the landscape has completely changed.

Alicat - where are you? :please:

Interesting thanks Doc. I'm staying forever hopeful police managed to find Allison's phone & they're saving that cracker for the trial :)

On a different note, Cowan's trial for the murder of Daniel Morcombe is now up to Day 9. So far 103 witnesses have testified.

At one stage it was reported there was going to be 473 witnesses in GBC's trial. From memory that figure has since been whittled down somewhat.

There were 446 witness statements taken & we have read how many of those??...under 20!! Soooo much more to come!!

Just going through some previous threads here.
AU-Allison Baden-Clay,43,Brisbane QLD, 19April2012 MEDIA/TIMELINE LINKS,NO DISCUSSION

Was looking at some video links and stopped at one with Erin Edwards report "Police search husbands office for clues":
Reporters words,
This case is particularly peculiar;
"Allison Baden Clay's husband has told us that Police have banned him from going to the command post..."
but
"Police say they never told him any such thing."
"Ahh .... He also has a scratch on his face. He had that when he reported his wife missing. His sister says he received that scratch on his face when he fell over and bumped his head.

There appears a couple of conflicting things with that report.

One: Either Gerard lied, or the Police lied regarding the Command Post. This relates to his absence from it.

Two: The scratches were obvious enough (at that time) to mention in this report.

The sister stated they were made when Gerard fell over and bumped his head.
The husband of the missing lady stated he cut himself shaving.
The Doctor (whom he visited shortly there after; not to support him about his missing wife, but to obtain a statement that the scratches were caused by razor) was ..... stunned. Then the good Doctor made a statement.

Now isn't that an interesting comment from OW.
Wonder if she witnessed this?

Oops which one is telling the truth?

Oops which one is telling the truth?

Socurious, In the assumption you are referring to Gerard v the Police
(There were two separate inconsistencies mentioned ....)

Does the one have a history of telling lies?
Liar's motto: If at first you don't deceive, lie, lie and lie again.
Our expectation: Expect more of the same.

Does the other have a motive for telling lies?
QPS motto: "With Honour We Serve".
Our expectation: Expect more of the same.
