I hope the Kardashians never have a chance to exploit them in the media.

Clearly you don't follow the Kardashians. They are a loving family (seriously, watch the show) and they do TONS of charity work. Kim and Kanye just announced they are donating ALL baby gifts to a children's hospital in Chicago.

I was not suggesting they do ANYTHING to exploit these girls. I was suggesting contacting them because I am positive they would donate money to help the girls.

I don't represent the Kardashians, but I work with their agent frequently on other projects. I know that they donate millions, and often anonymously. Their main platform is united families - so I'm sure they'd be willing to help.

“I’m not saying Michelle is legally incompetent. That’s baloney. But nothing she says is reliable. Anyone that damaged doesn’t have a handle on what they need,” Milano said.

This statement makes me sick; this guy has never met Michelle and has NO IDEA.
STAY the heck out of her life!
I'd get a restraining order to keep this guy, the mother and anyone else she does not want to talk to out of my life.
All for control and $$.

It seems quite obvious Mom did not care much when she raised her, did not do a lot of protecting when she should have. Shame on Mom for speaking to the media...

mom and her attorney keep it up, she is likely to get lots of attention. She is talking herself into becoming a star witness for the defense.

Prosecutor in court: "Michelle how many times did you get pregnant and what happened to the pregnancies?"

Defense witness mom: "Nothing Michelle says is reliable."

Mother should just STFU. And the attorney should also. There is a point that you put other people's needs above your own. Barbara, if you are reading this, this is the time.

Yes, I hope that people don't continue to harass them and realize that if they were involved the girls would know and they would be in jail. I doubt they will have peace though because there will always be those out there that are just cruel and continue to blame the family for his actions.

AC must have been pretty slick because he seems to have gotten away with a lot in his life, including the domestic violence charges against his wife. The guy is clearly a a$$ but he evaded the law.

I get angry when I read the psychological profiles of these monsters. I know that it's part of trying to understand them and trying to prevent future monsters like him. I get angry because in most cases, they always say that abuse in their lives as a child contributed or caused them to be the way the are. I have met many in my life that have had horrible childhoods and not one has turned out to be a monster. There are very few AC's in this world, yet there are a lot of people that have suffered neglect and abuse. There is another whole element to these psychopaths and the majority are male.

I stand for justice and I have no sympathy for anyone that commits these horrible crimes, regardless of what they experienced in their past. It makes me sick when the card is pulled that they were abused, blah, blah, blah. Some people just have a poor me attitude and blame everyone else in society for their evil as AC blamed these girls for getting in the car with him and blamed his childhood for his actions. I say BS, regardless of what the professionals may say. I don't think any amount of education or religion is going to change my perception.

Sorry for the vent, but this has been a real sore subject for me lately, as I listen to the professionals try and dig around in the childhoods of these monsters to find an "excuse" for their behavior.

Please, please, please, let the media leave these girls alone so they can go outside and not feel like prisoners in their own homes. I can't imagine going through all they did and then everywhere they turn some shark jumps out from the bushes. How scary that would be to have people peering at you and preying on you after all that. Let these girls begin to heal!!

Michelle Knight's statement through her attorney.

"Thank you to everyone for your support and good wishes. I am healthy, happy and safe and will reach out to family, friends and supporters in good time."

So glad to see that Michelle also has representation to help her navigate the circus surrounding this case and hopefully, to counsel her in regards to protecting herself from her mother if that is what she feels is warranted.

I'm still shocked at how fast everything has moved. As soon as the women escaped, they were intervied, then they were wisked to the hospital, then they were released and wisked home, Castro's brothers were released and not charged... it just seems like everything is moving too fast. Like, how could these women be released from the hospital so soon? Even if they weren't physically sick, what about their mental health? Shouldn't they have been counseled on being so abused and what to expect once they got home? It seems like there was barely enough time to tell them that, 'hey, things might be a little different', before sending them home! Sometimes, even prisoners go into half way houses to help them acclimate back into society...shouldn't health care professionals have offered more of a service and been more supportive. Also, I read that Michelle seemed to have suffered the most abuse, with her facial bones being disfigured. Did the hospital just make note but then send her on her way? Were they offered dental care? I just have so many worries...I would think that they are scared to death and jump at every sound. How in the world can they deal with all of this!

Sorry, I don't mean to be such a downer, but this has all moved so fast. It seems like even though they are away from their captor, a whole new set of problems may be beginning. They spent 10 long years away from their loved ones. Time didn't stop for them, and as horrible as it was, they had lives. In a way, it does seem like one day they were abducted, and then they escaped, but they were in that house, day after day, after week, after month, after year after year after year. As you can tell, I, (and I'm just an observer), am having a hard time coming to grips with this.

To perform any type of surgery or as you mentioned dental care, would be traumatic for the girls at this point. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't have psychiatric help that comes to the home. Keeping them in the hospital would just feel more like they are imprisoned. Any surgery that's not life threatening will have to wait. Going under anesthesia would be traumatizing after their ordeal. It has to do with the feeling of being controlled or the loss of control and trust of your hands in someone elses, even if it's a doctor. That's all just my opinion.

eta: I would be willing to bet, they are getting the absolute top notch care that is out there.

If they need counselors, are they expected to scan the yellow pages and then pay for them themselves?

Dental work can wait a few days.. Unless they have abscessed teeth, its not exactly critical. Itll need to get done, but they have time.

Re-constuctive surgery isnt something they can do right away. LOTS of planning is involved aswell as consultations with multiple plastic surgeons. The hospital can examine, xray, and then pass it all along to whoever will be performing the job. I suspect a highly reputable surgeon will do it pro bono.

And im sure they have been offered all kinds of services, but they dont need to be living in the hospital. It can all be offered as out-patient services. They have new found freedom and want to be home and Probably want to go out and have fun.. eat something other then mcdonalds lol get back to hobbies they enjoyed! i know amanda is excited to finally get her car from her grandpa.

They have agents and attorneys representing them. aswell as family and all kinds of donations and organizers. They are not alone and doing it "themselves".. They have alot more help then we can see.. its part of the whole privacy thing

Not to mention that all of them are reported to be malnourished. That will probably be another priority before any type of medical care other than what is absolutely critical care. Any needed but non critical care can wait until they have had a chance to heal some.

Wow. They really got cleaned up for the interview.

Lol! I wouldn't have recognized them if I had only stumbled on this video without headline or accompanying text.

The seem like simple people, and I don't mean this in a bad way. Wish them all the best!

Also, it sounds like they were malnourished to some extent... they may choose to wait a little while, get some good food, get some good sleep, etc.

I am glad to see the statements from the three women released today, it's likely the spotlight will cool down a bit now and they will be able to move around publicly in the upcoming weeks. People overall, including the media, will respect their need for privacy now only offering smiles and well wishes if they come across Michelle, Amanda and Gina in public. I am thinking that in Michelle's situation her first order of business is to see her son which is going to be a very complicated task to achieve. Imo this can explain away a lot of the whys as to what is going on with her in regards to her family.

Happy Mothers Day to all mom's everywhere whose children are missing. May they continue to hold onto hope. Miracles happen, sometimes they do come home, even after such a long time. This thread is proof of that.
