Early data suggests that while the transmission vector has gone airborne, infection rates remain relatively low. Though this is expected to rapidly change as the virus quickly adapts to spreading through this new method. - See more at: http://nationalreport.net/ebola-mutation-confirmed-airborne/#sthash.FWQrFtTZ.dpuf

Just to clarify, the article states it can be transmitted by droplets in the air. It isn't airborne like the flu. I'm pretty sure it has always been able to be transmitted by droplets in the air.

I thought the patient in NY came in today. This says it was yesterday. Why the confusion???

I wonder if he came in during the early Monday morning hours, i.e 1-2 a.m.? Could they be considering that late Sunday night instead of early Monday morning? Like you, the reports I have seen today have all stated he came in Monday morning.

Also from your link, 2 of the other hospitals which have tested recent patients for Ebola are named: (BBM)
At NYU Langone Medical Center last week, a patient who went to the emergency room with a fever and who mentioned a recent visit to West Africa was given a mask and moved to a secluded area, said Dr. Michael Phillips, the hospital’s director of Infection Prevention and Control.

At Bellevue Hospital Center last week, a patient was placed in isolation, but it quickly became clear that he did not have Ebola.

Based on this, it appears 3 of the 7 tested patients were in NYC. At least, the 7 tested patients we know about. MOO.

Mapp said in a statement that ZMapp is composed of three “humanized” monoclonal antibodies manufactured in plants, specifically Nicotiana. It is an optimized cocktail combining the best components from Mapp’s MB-003 and ZMab developed in Canada.

The drug is a collaboration of between Mapp, LeafBio in San Diego, Defyrus in Toronto, the U.S. government and the Public Health Agency of Canada.

Did you mean Kentucky ;)
"The drug being credited with potentially saving the lives of two American missionaries infected with the deadly Ebola virus was produced at a facility in Owensboro.

The serum wasn't manufactured but grown, in a greenhouse full of genetically modified tobacco plants.

Kentucky BioProcessing, which was acquired by Reynolds American in January, conducts contract research and development for San Diego-based Mapp Biopharmaceutical, said David Howard, spokesman for RAI Services, a subsidiary of Reynolds American."

Looks like Nancy Writebol will arrive here before rush hour in the morning.

Is it odd that JVM, NG and Dr.D chose not to discuss this???

Tekmira Pharmaceuticals Corp. (TSE:TKM), a Canadian company, has been working on a treatment for four years as part of a $140 million contract with the U.S. Department of Defense.

Their treatment, TKM-EBOLA, uses “Lipid Nanoparticle” technology, which sends the drugs through the patient's bloodsteam with tiny oil particles.

The process, called small interfering RNA (siRNA), has already saved primates injected with a fatal amount of the virus. In January, their researchers dosed their first human subjects in a clinical trial, but it’s nowhere near ready for distribution.

snipped

seems a few different contributors were missing their kudos !!

glad to read that numerous labs / agencies / countries came together to create this serum.

and fwiw, several of my nurse friends and my retired nurse mom all stated they would without a doubt treat these patients with no fear. they've all had several months training in infectious diseases and say that the precautions / protocols taken in hospitals work. of course, as has been said, mistakes happen...

ZMAb, one of the components of the ZMapp serum: http://www.defyrus.com/products_zmab.html

zmab_title.jpg

A combination drug, ZMAb, is composed of equal parts of 3 mouse monoclonal antibodies, directed against the envelope glycoproteins of the Ebola virus. The pioneering work was conducted at the National Microbiology Laboratory, Winnipeg, Canada, through the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC). In completed primate studies using a highly lethal challenge, the ZMAb was able to provide 100% treatment survival when administered 1 day after challenge and 50% treatment survival when given 2 days after challenge (3). Further, ZMAb treatment resulted in low viral loads, mild symptoms and no viral shedding of the challenge agent.

Defyrus has an exclusive option to license this technology from PHAC, and is currently exercising an exclusive license. Our pilot GLP and cGMP manufactured needs for ZMAb are being met by the Biotechnology Research Institute of the National Research Council of Canada in Montreal. Larger scale manufacturing contracts are under discussion to address commercial scale production to meet Public Health and Biodefense needs.

CDC director: "We can stop" Ebola from spreading

________________________

Question; "Why would the ambulance attendant even allow Dr. K Brantley, wearing a bio-hazard encapsulated suit and unsteady on his feet, to walk from the ambulance to the hospital"? "Why not use a wheelchair or ambulance stretcher as policy dictates"? "Imo, since this is not normal procedure, it was apparently to project a false impression to calm the public's concern"...

“Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see.” quote by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Doctors are also stubborn as hell. If he could walk at all he was going to. But watching that to me showed me how sick he really was. He was very unsteady and obviously not well.

As for the CDC, not sure I trust a damn thing they say

I would take anything from that particular website with a huge pinch of salt. There's a picture of Sarah Palin at the top of the page for starters as if she is heavily involved. If her understanding of virology is anything like her understanding of geography and politics, Enough said.

Then there is a newsflash headline suggesting that President Obama ordering the shooting down of MH17.

I mean really - seriously?

Ooops - i see someone has already pointed out that this website is satirical. It was either that or pure raving lunacy!
