Hands down one of the most reader friendly, well researched, credible blogs dealing with this topic.

No, I'm not in any way affiliated with the author. Just very impressed with his info and the quality of discussion in the comments section.

FYI he made updates to it a day afterwards at http://teddysratlab.blogspot.ca/search?updated-min=2014-01-01T00:00:00-08:00&updated-max=2015-01-01T00:00:00-08:00&max-results=5

Doctors are also stubborn as hell. If he could walk at all he was going to. But watching that to me showed me how sick he really was. He was very unsteady and obviously not well.

As for the CDC, not sure I trust a damn thing they say

Very true...we have paramedics in the family and, for example, if the limb is not severed, "you will be fine." They will drag themselves to work sick by gosh, subsisting on coffee and fast food. I totally believe that he wanted the small dignity of walking in. The nurses in my family are the same way, and unless you are burning with fever, you're going to school!:tantrum:

People are completely flipping out about these two patients who were brought in under extremely controlled conditions. Why do "we" believe we are suddenly in extreme danger? We have an open society. People are arriving in this country from western Africa on a daily basis. Passenger John Doe boards a plane, looking happy and healthy just like everyone else boarding. However, he is right in the middle of his incubation period after being infected with ebola. A week later, he shows up to his local ER complaining of "flu-like symptoms," just as several other people with various illnesses which present as "flu-like symptoms" do. Nurses and other health care staff do not sit in the ER wearing Hazmat gear, and they approach this patient just like they do any other who has a fever. They use universal precautions but the initial interactions are not made with the assumption that we are dealing with ebola.

So if these two patients with known infection had been denied entry we would feel that we were somehow safe from this disease? Really? It's a totally false sense of security.

WSB, local channel in Atlanta. Appears the chopper for WSB (who does our local traffic in the city) will follow the caravan again. CNN will probably queue in soon. They have been #1 as to live at http://www.wsbtv.com/s/news/live-event/ and are 100% on it right now. Interesting to see something other than CNN through this local channel.

ETA: Strange - the link isn't doing the broadcast of the station that I'm seeing on tv..just only video. Will have to search out the tv broadcast perhaps.

snark warning

It's funny to watch newscasters that don't know that they are live.http://www.wsbtv.com/s/news/live-event/. Cary Cavanaugh, (sp?) you are preening like JA! She's been doing it for a few minutes straight as she knows will go live to her at anytime :giggle:

Noticed that the traffic/security issues during Dr Kent Brantley's transport were mentioned on a recent local media report, that may be changed in today's ebola patient transport procedures.
One was a rolling road block for the caravan...

Whoa! I'm watching local WSB 11 alive on local tv and I'm seeing and hearing VINNIE Politan!!! On my local news. They have stopped traffic... might be a little different from the last time.

Note the convoy using the HOV lane has police vehicles preventing traffic from passing in the adjacent lane..

Change today... appears that media got behind police at exit to North Druid Hills/Briarcilff (for locals)..to block them a bit and shut them to back off.

Interesting that when they went right by the front of the CDC campus just now (next to Emory) they didn't mention

She is there. She arrived on a stretcher. WSB TV did mention when they passed the CDC.

They stated on news that some of those involved in transport were volunteers from EMS etc. Two were on vacation and came back to volunteer to participate. Kuddos for those folks. And a big southern hug for all that got the both of them back to their homeland for treatment. I have great respect for Emory University Hospital and the CDC.
